Heo Sung-tae, Jo Bokrae's opposites-attract duo chemistry and unpredictable comic situations bring laughter in the crime action comedy film "Informant," which begins IPTV and cable TV VOD services today, Jan. 2 (Fri).
"Informant" is a crime action comedy in which former ace detective Oh Nam-hyeok ( Heo Sung-tae), who lost his passion, will and investigative instincts after being demoted, and informant Jo Tae-bong (Jo Bokrae), who provided information on major cases and pocketed illicit money, accidentally get involved in a big scheme. It was selected as the opening film of the 24th New York Asian Film Festival (NYAFF), North America's representative Asian film festival, earning early recognition for both artistry and popular appeal. In addition, Han Seong-gu, CEO of Popcorn Film, who planned and produced a range of hit films across genres—from "Love Story," "First Love Defense Rally," to "Youth Comic," "Punch," "Today's Love," "collateral," and "The Yellow Sea"—participated in production to enhance the film's completeness.
Above all, "Informant" treats the relationship between detectives and informants, which has been handled seriously in conventional crime films, in a pleasant and fresh comedic way. Within the detective–informant dynamic, Oh Nam-hyeok and Jo Tae-bong act outwardly like a team as they investigate a smuggling organization case together, but inwardly they harbor different goals, leading to constant bickering.
Meeting as an opposites pair conducting a teamwork-free collaborative investigation, the chemistry between Heo Sung-tae and Jo Bokrae elicited laughter from viewers.
