Actor Lee Si-young mentioned the dangerous circumstances of her second childbirth.
On Jan. 1 a new video was released on YouTube channel Ro Hong-chul titled "Do what you want to do first! Ro Hong-chul's view of the power of execution for the new year."
In the video, Lee Si-young, who recently gave birth to her second child, also appeared and talked. She recalled the time of delivery and said, "When I went into the operating room, general anesthesia was not possible because you cannot drink water or take medicine, so we did a lower-body anesthesia for the cesarean section. I kept my eyes open for two hours," she explained the situation at the time.
She went on to say, "I was scared, but the situation was urgent and I gave birth two weeks earlier than the due date," and "Only after the surgery did the medical staff tell me that I had been in quite a dangerous condition and that a hysterectomy had been possible," which surprised viewers. She added that the medical staff had not informed her before the surgery out of consideration for the mother's anxiety.
In particular, Lee Si-young confessed that giving birth at 44 was by no means easy. However, she said, "Only my lower body was anesthetized so I could hear all the sounds in the operating room," and added, "Because I have consistently exercised, I think my recovery was different." She also recalled, "They said my condition was so clean after the first birth that there was nothing to do," and shared the anecdote that the attending professor jokingly said, "You two should exercise," which drew attention.
Ro Hong-chul asked Lee Si-young while talking about travel, "Will we still have a good chance to go in the future? Is your physical condition really okay?" and Lee Si-young replied, "I don't mind."
Meanwhile, Lee Si-young married a businessman nine years her senior in 2017 but divorced in March last year. After the divorce, she became pregnant with her second child by implanting a frozen embryo without her ex-husband's consent and gave birth in November last year.
Lee Si-young explained on her personal YouTube channel why she gave birth early. She said she had heavy bleeding and had to undergo immediate surgery, and that the baby was born a premature infant weighing 1.9kg.
Describing the pain after childbirth, Lee Si-young said, "It feels like it's burning and like all my organs are spilling out, so after walking one or two laps I can't walk well," and "It takes more than a minute every time I get up. I have to walk slowly to hurt less."
