Pop artist Nancy Lang said she was in pain, saying the debt she took on from a fraudulent marriage with her ex-husband grew as high as 1.5 billion won.
On the afternoon of the 1st, the general programming channel MBN's "Special Report" aired and revealed Nancy Lang's work and daily life. Appearing again after four years, Nancy Lang continued her creative work despite still living a hard life because of debt from the fraudulent marriage. She was also full of longing for her mother, who died after a long battle with cancer.
That day Nancy Lang said, "I borrowed from primary, secondary and tertiary lenders, and that debt eventually grew from 800 million won to 1.5 billion won," adding, "Because I'm famous, many people tried to use me. They're like a horde of zombies. They feed on me once to live for a day. Once they feed on me, I'm finished. After going through those things I just came to hate people," she said.
Nancy Lang visited the columbarium where her mother lies. At her mother's grave, Nancy Lang complained about the hardships of life and said, "Every holiday, at Christmas, I miss my mom so much and feel lonely. I want to have a warm, happy Christmas with family like everyone else," and she cried.
Nancy Lang's home was also revealed. She had many rooms and placed a bed in the living room to live. About this, she said, "Isn't it nice? It's much bigger and feels like living in a hotel," and explained, "In the rooms are the paintings and materials from when I had a very large studio during an earlier investment, it was 70 pyeong, so all those paintings and materials are in there."
Nancy Lang actually grew up in an affluent environment. She recalled her privileged childhood, saying, "From elementary school I traveled abroad, lived in Apgujeong-dong until university, I had a live-in housekeeper who helped with household chores, a full-time driver, and even a private tutor who taught me all subjects from elementary school. I basically only spent money and enjoyed that wealth thanks to my mother."
She added, "But my mother's long battle with cancer went on for a long time, and when I had to become the person responsible for my mother's medical bills and living expenses, it was so hard to accept this reality."
Nancy Lang married Wang Jin-jin in 2017 by registering their marriage, but the marriage instead left her with debt. After suffering confinement and threats, she won the divorce suit two years and nine months into the marriage. However, debt remained for her.
Nancy Lang said, "I was as much as five months behind on rent and the landlord said, 'Get out. I won't extend you.' When my card was cut off I cried out loud," adding, "To conclude, about eight years ago I took on debts from primary, secondary and tertiary lenders, and that debt eventually grew from 800 million won to 1.5 billion won."
After the divorce, Nancy Lang appeared on several broadcasts and spoke about the debts from the fraudulent marriage with her ex-husband. She continued to live a hard life as her growing debts remained.
