'Stars' Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant' Kim Kangwoo and Kang Soo-jung's past connection will be revealed.
On Jan. 2, Friday at 8:30 p.m. the first 2026 episode of KBS 2TV Stars' Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant (hereafter "Fun-Staurant," directed by Yoon Byung-il) will air. Versatile goddess Lee Jung Hyun, romantic chef Kim Kangwoo, and nation's eldest daughter Nam Bo-ra have promised a fierce competition, and as special MC the always cheerful and lovable "Hong Kong wife" Kang Soo-jung will join. Fun-Staurant is expected to be rich and enjoyable from the new year of 2026.
At a recent Fun-Staurant studio recording, special MC Kang Soo-jung and romantic chef Kim Kangwoo greeted each other particularly warmly. When curiosity about their acquaintance arose, Kang Soo-jung hesitated for a moment, asking, "Can I speak honestly?" and then revealed, "When Kangwoo was a high school senior and I was a college freshman, we traveled together." The studio began to stir at the surprise connection between Kim Kangwoo and Kang Soo-jung that no one knew about. People were curious about how the two ended up traveling together.
Kang Soo-jung continued, "Even then Kangwoo was so handsome," praising Kim Kangwoo's pretty looks. Kim Kangwoo also recalled fond memories, saying, "I talked with nuna a lot back then and it was fun." But their acquaintance ended with that trip. Kang Soo-jung revealed a shocking embarrassing incident she couldn't bring herself to continue the relationship because of, saying, "There was an incident that made me unable to continue this connection." She said she showed a humiliating appearance she absolutely did not want to show to the pretty younger Kim Kangwoo. After hearing the full story, the Fun-Staurant cast also clenched their laughter, shouting, "I can't live!"
Kang Soo-jung said, "From then on I couldn't bring myself to look at Kim Kangwoo," and asked him with anxious eyes, "You don't remember, right?" As everyone held their breath waiting for an answer, Kim Kangwoo responded warmly with manners, saying, "I had a blackout. I don't remember." What exactly happened to Kang Soo-jung on that trip?
Kim Kangwoo went on to recall, "(Years later) I saw her on the news and wondered what was going on," remembering how pleased he was to see Kang Soo-jung on TV. MC Boom said in wonder, "Those two met as people who once were like that, and after the years passed are now mom and dad meeting on Fun-Staurant." Kim Kangwoo and Kang Soo-jung also smiled, saying, "Looking back, it's a memory."
