Singer and actress Nana suffered an intrusion by an assailant wielding a bladed weapon at her home, and it has become a topic of conversation after it was revealed that she was recently counter-sued by the assailant on charges of attempted murder.
On the 2nd, her agency Sublime issued an official statement saying, "Through thorough investigation by law enforcement in the case of assault and injury by robbery against our actor Nana, the perpetrator's criminal acts have been clearly confirmed. In particular, during the course of the perpetrator's crime, who was armed with a bladed weapon, actor Nana and her family suffered serious physical and mental harm, and the resulting physical and psychological pain continues to this day," the agency said.
In November last year, Nana experienced an incident in which a robber armed with a bladed weapon broke into her home. Nana and her mother subdued the robber after a physical struggle and reported it to the police, but in the process Nana's mother sustained a strangulation injury from the robber.
At the time, Sublime said, "Due to the robber's physical attack, actor Nana's mother experienced a serious injury and lost consciousness, and actor Nana also suffered physical injuries while escaping the crisis. Both of them currently require treatment and absolute rest."
In particular, Mr. A suffered a laceration on his jaw during the physical struggle with Nana and her mother, but the police judged it to be self-defense and did not book him.
However, that day one outlet reported, citing people familiar with the matter, that the suspect A, who was detained on charges of aggravated robbery and injury, recently filed a complaint against Nana during the investigation and is claiming that the actions Nana took during the subduing amounted to "attempted murder."
According to reports, A is said to have recanted recent statements compared with the early investigation when he admitted the crime, and Nana considered leniency in light of A's young age but, upon learning of the counter-complaint, set a principle of no settlement.
Nana's side emphasized the same principle in an official statement, saying, "The perpetrator, without any attitude of remorse, filed another complaint against actor Nana and is abusing the fact that the victim is a public figure to cause secondary harm through inhumane acts. Our company prioritizes protecting the rights and interests of its artists, and we will pursue all civil and criminal legal measures against the perpetrator in relation to this matter."
The agency added, "We will continue to respond responsibly until the artist does not suffer further harm."
Meanwhile, Nana was greatly shocked by the incident but, buoyed by the support of fans and the public, she is fulfilling scheduled engagements. On Dec. 4 of last month she released her first solo album "Seventh Heaven 16," and she will meet viewers through the GenieTV original "Climax," scheduled to air in the first half of the year.
