Actor and director Mel Gibson (69) and screenwriter Rosalind Ross (35) have decided to divorce after nine years of marriage.
According to U.S. magazine People on the 30th (local time), Gibson and Ross said, "We are sad to close this chapter of our lives, but we have a beautiful son and will continue to do our best as parents."
Having quietly separated about a year ago, Mel Gibson and Rosalind Ross plan to co-parent their 8-year-old son, Lars.
The two met through acquaintances in 2014 and developed a romantic relationship. In 2017 they welcomed a son, which was just days before Gibson was nominated for the Academy Award for best director for the film Hacksaw Ridge.
At the time Gibson said, "Is there anything more exciting than holding my newborn son and hearing the nominee announcements?"
In addition to his son, Gibson has eight other children. With his ex-wife Robin Moore he has one daughter and six sons: Christian, Edward, William, Louis, Milo and Thomas.
He also has a 16-year-old daughter, Lucia, from his relationship with former girlfriend, pianist Oksana Grigorieva.
