The police have imposed a travel ban on 'Injection Aunt' A, accused of performing illegal medical procedures on comedian Park Narae. It appears a full-scale investigation has begun.
On the 31st, according to police, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul recently imposed a travel ban on nonmedical person A on charges including violating the Medical Service Act, violating the Pharmaceutical Affairs Act and possessing stimulants under the Narcotics Control Act.
A did not obtain a domestic medical license but is accused of administering IV injections to Park Narae in an officetel and a vehicle and of prescribing antidepressants, among other illegal medical procedures.
Prosecutors received a complaint against A from former Korean Medical Association Organization president Lim Hyun-taek on the 6th, then transferred the case to the police, and a police investigation is currently underway.
Meanwhile, Park Narae has suspended activities amid multiple controversies. On the 3rd, former managers filed an application with the Seoul Western District Court to place a real estate provisional seizure worth 100 million won, claiming Park Narae engaged in power harassment and special injury, proxy prescriptions, illegal medical procedures, and nonpayment of hosting fees. They also warned of filing a damages lawsuit, claiming injuries suffered during their employment. In response, Park Narae refuted the former managers' claims and instead countersued them on attempted blackmail charges.
Accordingly, the former managers accused Park Narae of embezzlement, alleging she falsely registered a former boyfriend as an employee and transferred money under the name of salary and other items, and they also submitted complaints over special injury and defamation, among others. Meanwhile, suspicions surfaced that Park Narae received prescriptions for psychotropic drugs and illegal medical treatment from the so-called 'Injection Aunt,' who did not hold a medical license, and a complaint was even filed through the national petition portal.
Park Narae is currently facing charges including violating the Medical Service Act, special injury, violating the Act on the Development of the Culture Industry (entertainment industry law), defamation by false statement, violating the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, and embezzlement. Subsequently, Park Narae additionally filed embezzlement charges against her former managers, and a police investigation is underway. In particular, the 'Injection Aunt' controversy spread within the entertainment industry, and SHINee's Key and YouTuber Short Mouth Sun also posted official statements and have suspended activities.
