Actor Yoo Ah-in registered a one-person agency as a separate corporation in addition to his agency.
On the 31st, according to the Integrated Information System for Popular Culture and Arts operated by the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA), Yoo Ah-in on the 22nd registered in the popular culture and arts planning business under his real name Eom Hong-sik as the representative of U Company LLC.
U Company LLC was registered with the business purposes of management, film production, broadcasting content production, and entertainers, with its address in a location in Suseong District, Daegu Metropolitan City, Yoo Ah-in's hometown. The establishment date was July 2015, and court registration was completed in March 2016.
Recently, a number of famous entertainers were found to be operating one-person agencies separately from the agencies with which they had exclusive contracts without registering in the popular culture and arts planning business, causing controversy. Accordingly, Yoo Ah-in appears to have registered a separate corporation in the popular culture and arts planning business even while he is in self-restraint.
Coincidentally, Yoo Ah-in is currently serving a suspended sentence on drug charges. For that reason, the late registration of a one-person corporation in the popular culture and arts planning business was interpreted by some as a sign of his intention to return. However, UAA, Yoo Ah-in's agency, has not issued a separate comment on the matter.
Yoo Ah-in was engulfed in drug allegations in 2022 and effectively suspended his activities. From September 2020 to March 2022, he was involved in illegal prescriptions of propofol and sleeping pills, and in January 2022 he was reported to have smoked marijuana in the United States, leading to his being caught on charges of violating the Act on the Control of Narcotics.
After more than two years of trial, Yoo Ah-in was sentenced to one year in prison and fined 2 million won last year and was taken into custody. However, after appeals to the Supreme Court, the sentence was finalized as one year in prison with a two-year suspended sentence and a fine of 2 million won, and he is currently observing self-restraint.
In the meantime, last year the Netflix series "Goodbye Earth" and this year the films "Seungbu" and "High Five," all starring Yoo Ah-in, were released. However, all of these works were filmed before Yoo Ah-in's drug controversy and reached the public after long waits and discussions.<
