'2025 SBS 연기대상' SBS's excessive handing out of awards has stirred unusual sentiment online.
On the afternoon of the 31st at SBS Prism Tower, the '2025 SBS Drama Awards' presented awards to actors for dramas aired during 2025. The men's institutional sector rookie award VCR footage showed the winners, not the nominees. The male actors all stood up bewildered, and one actor was seen openly asking a fellow actor, "Are they really giving them all out like this?" The rookie awards were thus given to eight people in total, four men and four women.
Then the supporting actor awards were divided into four institutional sectors — melodrama, romantic comedy, genre action and human fantasy — and went to eight actors. Actor Go Geon-ha left a message of support for Ahn Sung-ki, creating a briefly somber atmosphere, but Shin Dong-yeob, sticking to his usual style, joked, "They deliberated over more than 150 actors to present these awards," defusing the mood in the hall.
Traditionally, SBS has maintained a reputation for strictly judging 'acting' when it comes to its drama awards. That reputation stemmed from the track records of past grand prize winners, which were regarded as more thorough than MBC's and stricter than KBS's. Youngest grand prize winner Moon Geun-young, Namkoong Min, who heated many viewers despite airing in January with "Stove League," and Jang Nara, a solo female lead, — SBS in the past gave other awards such as the 'teen star award' but was relatively fair regarding acting. However, online sentiment has turned to criticism because this year the number of winners in part one alone reached 16, and the staff and production team had not yet appeared.
