Police investigating allegations of illegal medical practices involving comedian Park Narae have banned the departure from the country of a person surnamed Lee nicknamed the "injection aunt".
On the 31st, police said the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul recently imposed a travel ban on a nonmedical person surnamed Lee who is accused of violating the Medical Service Act and the Pharmaceutical Affairs Act and of offenses including stimulant control under the Narcotics Control Act.
Although she did not obtain a domestic medical license, Ms. Lee is accused of illegally performing medical procedures such as giving Park Narae intravenous injections in an officetel and a car and prescribing antidepressants.
Prosecutors received a complaint on the 6th from former Korean Medical Association Organization president Im Hyun-taek against a person surnamed Lee and then transferred the case to the police.
Meanwhile, on the 3rd, former managers of Park Narae filed an application at the Seoul Western District Court to provisionally seize real estate worth 100 million won, claiming Park Narae's abusive behavior, special injury, proxy prescriptions, illegal medical procedures, and nonpayment of production fees. They also announced plans to sue for damages, alleging harm suffered during their employment. In response, Park Narae denied the former managers' claims and instead countersued the former managers on charges of attempted extortion.
