"2.63 million YouTuber" Nareum posted an additional exposé video alleging school violence by singer Choi Tae-woong, a former contestant on "Produce 101 Season 2."
On the 28th Nareum uploaded the video to her social account saying, "An idol school violence perpetrator sued me."
In the video Nareum said, "I received a DM from a fan. But my school violence perpetrator mentioned me and said I disseminated false information, saying he would sue me, so he posted through a lawyer that I should take down all my videos. It's really absurd. He self-incriminated. I only said he was an idol who debuted after being eliminated from an audition program, and that he is not famous now but I hope he does well, and I shared my story with viewers while doing mukbang, and he self-incriminated saying 'that's me,'" expressing disbelief.
She continued, "You know who I am, right? You remember, right? I even changed my name because of the trauma from your school violence. In 2003 on Daum cafe 'Kyungsilmoh' Busan Nam-gu oo Elementary School 4th grade class 7. Those who handle data well will immediately know that that cafe really existed. classmates know, and the one who knows best will be yourself," she targeted.
Along with the video Nareum said, "Hello, I'm Nareum. First, I sincerely thank everyone who worried about and supported me. I filmed the video in as bright a mood as possible in the hope that it would not cause fatigue because of me. Many school violence victims courageously shared their stories, and in gratitude I made a donation to the 'Foundation for the Prevention of Youth Violence.' Once again, I deeply thank everyone for their warm hearts," she explained.
He added, "I have confirmed posts saying the perpetrator has taken civil and criminal legal action, but so far I have not received direct contact. Honestly, I wonder on what grounds they say they will sue... I am confident, so if I receive contact I will continue to share the progress of the lawsuit," he added.
Earlier Nareum uploaded an exposé video on the 18th saying, "A perpetrator who made me want to die by creating an anti-cafe against me debuted as an idol," and "A few years ago while flipping TV channels an audition program 'Produce 101' came on and I saw a familiar face. It was one of my school violence perpetrators. I was bullied in fourth grade. At the time Daum cafes were all the rage, and someone using my name Nareum created a cafe called 'a group that hates Nareum,' 'Nasitmo,' and every day they wrote insults about me and giggled among themselves, and at school they talked about the cafe posts. It was so hard to bear that I told my mother and after a meeting with my homeroom teacher I remember crying in a taxi on the way home asking if the perpetrator would be punished if I died, that I hoped they would be punished," and afterward she said she sent a brave DM after finding the person on social media but was ignored.
She added, "That person was eliminated but has now debuted under a different agency. I don't wish ill on them. They are not a very famous idol yet, but just as everyone has their shining period, I think that person's shining time will come. If so, I hope they will at least apologize saying I was too young then," she added. After the post drew much attention and netizens began to 'find the perpetrator,' Nareum asked, "I would rather we keep this quiet among ourselves. It would be sad if those who care for me became another perpetrator toward that person. Instead, if that person apologizes or contacts me I will definitely let you know," she urged.
However, on the 24th BZ-BOYS member Choi Tae-woong posted the official statement of law firm Hwaon on his personal account denying the school violence allegations. The law firm said, "Recently YouTuber Nareum TV posted videos on Instagram and TikTok claiming that 'an idol who debuted after being eliminated from Produce 101 was a school violence perpetrator in fourth grade,' and suspicion has arisen that the person in question is Choi Tae-woong. However, such allegations are clearly false," and argued, "Choi Tae-woong did not commit the violent acts Nareum TV claims during his school years, and there is no fact that he caused physical or mental harm."
The firm warned of legal action, saying, "Following the posting of the video, follow-up reports continued, and baseless rumors have spread indiscriminately, including numerous malicious comments on Choi Tae-woong's social media, causing serious reputational damage. Hwaon has taken civil and criminal legal action on behalf of Choi Tae-woong for rights infringed by the spread of false information, and strongly requests the immediate deletion of related videos and posts currently online. We will hold legal responsibility to the end to prevent additional damage."
In response Nareum said, "I received a really absurd DM. I'll say just one thing. The person who hit you usually doesn't remember," and rebutted, "I never told false information, so I will not delete the videos. As commonly said, perpetrators often do not remember. Or I hope this is a mistake because of my name change that led to mentioning a lawsuit. However, it is unclear on what basis they say they will sue me. If I have done something legally wrong I will take responsibility. I will continue to share the progress of the lawsuit via video," she countered.
