Shim Kwon-ho opened up about his story.
On the 29th episode of TV CHOSUN 'A devoted lover of Joseon', Shim Kwon-ho, who said he had been single since birth for 53 years, was shown participating in a workshop on conversation skills.
Shim Kwon-ho appeared wearing a vest. Shim Hyun-seop added that it was his most dressed-up fashion. Upon hearing that women had gathered for him, Shim Kwon-ho reacted, "I'm scared," and he appeared very nervous even before meeting them.
Three women gathered for Shim Kwon-ho. Kim Yoon-kyung, Lee Ji-young and Kim Ga-ran stepped forward for the shy Shim Kwon-ho. They helped Shim Kwon-ho by grocery shopping, cooking and dining together, improving his conversation skills.
Thanks to their efforts, Shim Kwon-ho gradually began to lead conversations more naturally. Shim Kwon-ho said, "In my life I have never been the first to say 'I like you, let's date.'" He added, "I'm afraid of confessing. It's obvious I'll mess it up 99% of the time."
Shim Kwon-ho confessed frankly, "There were times when women approached me. 'Why are they coming to me?' I wasn't popular originally, but after winning a medal popularity suddenly appeared. I wanted to show 'me,' but aren't they coming to see the national team athlete Shim Kwon-ho rather than me? I had those thoughts."
Shim Kwon-ho recalled, "They were taller, better-looking and had similar abilities than me. I saw women all go to those friends. When I went out with friends I tried hard to talk and started conversations with women... when I came back from the bathroom my seat was gone." He added, "I was short and couldn't talk in that situation. The first time I had a conversation with a woman was in my third year of college. I treated women like men."
After finishing the meal, Shim Kwon-ho decided to have one-on-one conversations with the women. Nervous at first, he surprisingly showed progress, raising expectations.
