Broadcast personality Jang Doyoun left a message that runs through the 2025 entertainment scene with the word "humility."
At the MBC Entertainment Awards ceremony held on the 29th, Jang Doyoun received the entertainer of the year award. In her acceptance speech, she said, "I'm reading "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" these days, and if you're not humble, everyone dies," displaying her characteristic wit. She added, "To survive to the end in this frightening entertainment world, I will live humbly, as my father always told me. I'm truly grateful."
This year Jang Doyoun proved her presence with steady hosting skills and a sense for capturing moments across various entertainment and talk formats. She created laughter without stepping forward, kept the center without excess—such balance was solid enough that the phrase "Jang Doyoun-style hosting" came naturally.
In particular, this remark resonated again amid the unsettled atmosphere of year-end entertainment caused by the so-called Park Narae drunk-aunt incident.
At the center of the ceremony was news of a record update by Daesang winner Yu Jae-seok. Yu Jae-seok expressed deep thanks to the production staff of Hangout With Yoo and viewers after winning his ninth Daesang at MBC and his 21st overall Daesang. Even as the spotlight was divided, Jang Doyoun's remarks lingered. The message of "humility to survive to the end" stood out more clearly in an entertainment world that consumes quickly.
Meanwhile, the entertainers of the year included Jang Doyoun, Jun Hyun-moo, Kian84, and Kim Yeon-kyung. The excellence awards went to Kim Sook·You Se Yoon, the merit awards went to Shin Bong-Sun·Ku Sung-hwan·Dex, the special award went to the Masked Singer team, and the lifetime achievement award went to the late Jeon Yoo-seong, with Kim Shin-young accepting on his behalf.
