Broadcast personality Jang Doyoun delivered a message that will permeate the 2025 variety show scene with the word "humility."
At the MBC Entertainment Awards held on the 29th, Jang Doyoun won the entertainer of the year award. In her acceptance speech she said, "I've been reading 'Romance of the Three Kingdoms' these days, and if you are not humble you all die," delivering her characteristic wit. She added, "To survive to the end in this scary entertainment world, I will live humbly, as my father always told me. I am truly grateful."
This year Jang Doyoun proved her presence with steady hosting skills and a knack for seizing moments across various variety and talk formats. She produced laughter without taking the spotlight, kept the center without excess, and her balanced approach was solid enough that the phrase "Jang Doyoun-style hosting" naturally stuck.
In particular, that remark resonated once again amid the chaotic year-end variety atmosphere caused by the so-called Park Narae injection aunt controversy.
At the center of the ceremony was news that grand prize winner Yu Jae-seok set a new record. Yu Jae-seok received his ninth grand prize from MBC and his 21st grand prize overall, expressing deep gratitude to the Hangout With Yoo production team and viewers. But even with the spotlight divided, Jang Doyoun's remarks remained memorable. The message of "humility to survive to the end" stood out more clearly in a variety world that is consumed quickly.
Meanwhile, the entertainer of the year award this year went to five people including Jang Doyoun: Jun Hyun-moo, Kian84, and Kim Yeon-kyung were also named. Jun Hyun-moo spoke about changes in I Live Alone and his determination regarding Omniscient Interfering View; Kian84 offered sincere support. Kim Yeon-kyung credited the achievements of "The Wonder Coach Kim Yeon-kyung" to her team and players.
The entertainer of the year program award decided by viewer votes went to "The Wonder Coach," which swept best couple (Kim Yeon-kyung·Inkusi), best teamwork (Wonder Dogs), and hot issue (Bu Seung-kwan), proving overwhelming publicity value. The excellence awards went to Kim Sook·You Se Yoon, while the merit awards went to Shin Bong-Sun·Ku Sung-hwan·Dex, the special award went to the Masked Singer team, and the lifetime achievement award went to the late Jeon Yoo-sung, with Kim Shin-young accepting on his behalf.
