'Dynamite Kiss' production team is hoping Ahn Eun-jin and Jang Ki-yong will win best couple.
Recently, director Kim Jae-hyun and writers Ha Yun-ah and Tae Kyung-min, who were responsible for directing and writing the SBS Wed-Thu drama 'Dynamite Kiss', shared their feelings upon finishing the work and their reflections in a written interview.
'Dynamite Kiss' is a work that depicts the bittersweet romance between a single woman who disguised herself as a mother to get a job to make a living and the Head of Team who came to love her, and it ended on the 25th. 'Dynamite Kiss' gained great popularity, receiving praise that it successfully revived SBS weekday dramas and ranking No. 1 among all weekday dramas in viewership for six consecutive weeks.
Writers Ha Yun-ah and Tae Kyung-min said the characters in the script were completed by the actors' performances and opened their mouths, saying, "I went 'Crazy...crazy...' while watching it. 'My goodness! What is happening!!'"
The two said, "To be specific, actor Jang Ki-yong 'Don't do this! Why are you doing this to me?? My heart is trembling so I can't sleep these days!' Ahn Eun-jin 'Is she beautiful? Is she cute? Is she precious? Where on earth is the end of her charm? Escape impossible!'" and added, "Actor Kim Moo-jun 'What is this freshness? This girl's dad is so charming!' Actor Woo Da-bi 'Oh my, as sweet as this macaron, where did a ruby-like sparkling girl come from?' As our hearts fluttered like this, all four were more Ji-hyeok, more Da-rim, more Seon-woo, more Ha-young than the characters drawn in the script, so we were happier than we could be in every episode. We sincerely thank the actors!"
Was it thanks to such acting? There were many favorable reviews that 'Dynamite Kiss' was a work with a slightly different tone from conventional romances. Where did the two writers who wrote the script try to find the fun points in the work? The writers said, "As it was our first romantic comedy work, my internal theme was 'let's find points that can be new within the familiar.' As an enthusiastic listener of 2000s rom-coms myself, I wanted to actively use clichés of that era but make the pacing and order of developments unexpected so there would be no time to be bored."
They continued, "Also, if we left a strong impression from an early fantastic kiss and the afterimage of the first kiss remained even in the comedy sections that followed so that the 'tension' was not lost, we hoped we could create 'Dynamite Kiss''s personality as a 'strangely thrilling comedy.' The director and the actors sympathized with this intention and filmed passionately, so thankfully we seem to have achieved our aims to some extent. We also sincerely, very very much thank the viewers who enjoyed these points."
With this rhythm completed, 'Dynamite Kiss' successfully concluded, and in the case of Ahn Eun-jin♥Jang Ki-yong, they were also nominated for best couple at the '2025 SBS Drama Awards'. When asked whether he expected to win, director Kim Jae-hyun answered, "Best couple award? I really, really don't want to miss this. I really want to receive it. Please give it to us. Please. I love SBS. Please..." which drew laughter.
The two writers also chimed in, "We would be so happy if you give it to us. It would be so so wonderful! As rom-com writers, where is a greater honor than this? Please give it to our high-flying couple!! Please give it to us!!"
Meanwhile, whether Ahn Eun-jin and Jang Ki-yong win the best couple award will be revealed at 9 p.m. on the 31st at the '2025 SBS Drama Awards.'
