SEVENTEEN member Seungkwan lifted a trophy at the MBC Entertainment Awards for the first time in seven years.
Seungkwan won the "hot issue award" at the 2025 MBC Entertainment Awards held at the MBC Media Center public hall in Mapo-gu, Seoul, on the 29th. He appeared as the manager of the "Pilsseung Wonder Dogs" team on MBC's The Wonder Coach, which ended last month, and played a key role in energizing the program.
On stage, Seungkwan deflected praise by saying, I only picked up balls, encouraged the players and wiped the floor as a manager, and added, I am honored to be here. I thank Director Kim Yeon-kyung and the players. I also want to express my gratitude to producer Kwon Rak-hee and the production team. Let's go to season 2 of The Wonder Coach, he said.
Seungkwan showed sincere love for volleyball on the program, earning wide praise from viewers and sports fans. During matches he cheered the loudest for the players, and when results were poor he offered unreserved comfort and encouragement. True to his reputation as a volleyball enthusiast, he also contributed to analyzing opposing teams' strengths, showcasing the traits of an "all-purpose boo manager."
Seungkwan previously won the rookie award in the music and talk category at the 2018 MBC Entertainment Awards, earning recognition for his distinct variety sense. His cheerful energy stood out again at the ceremony. Seungkwan drew laughs by handing bottled water to player Pyo Seung-ju, who was preparing her acceptance remarks, and by attending closely to Director Kim Yeon-kyung, appearing overinvested as the manager of the "Pilsseung Wonder Dogs."
Seungkwan's performances that warmed living rooms continued into web variety. He is hosting solo for the first time since debut through BBIDIBABIDIBOO, showing off his witty banter. His music activities also continue. He formed a unit with member Dokyeom and will release the mini first album Soya-gok on Jan. 12 next year. With the group's two main vocalists joining forces, the record is expected to blend outstanding vocal ability with deep emotion.
