Actors Lee Chae-min and Lee Sin Young, and Jo Aram and Hong Su-ju shared the newcomer awards at the MBC Drama Awards.
On the 30th broadcast of '2025 MBC YeongidaSaeng', Kim Sung-Ju and actor Lee Sun-bin served as MCs, and last year's presenters Heo Nam-jun and Chae Won-bin presented the newcomer awards.
Male newcomer nominees included 'Undercover High School' Shin Jun-hang, 'Moon River' Lee Sin Young, 'Crushology 101' Lee Chae-min, and 'Crushology 101' Cho Junyoung, with Lee Chae-min and Lee Sin Young sharing the honor of joint winners.
Lee Chae-min began, "Actually, I already thanked people and gave remarks yesterday because I was grateful to be in this position. I was so nervous yesterday that I don't even remember. So today I resolved to try not to be nervous if I happened to win." He continued, "First, I thank the director who put me in this position, the writer, and the staff who worked so hard on set. I also thank Hermes, the managers, and company staff who have cared for me from head to toe while sharing the hardships and joys with me."
He added, "Actually I regretted only giving thanks and leaving yesterday. So I couldn't even say 'Happy New Year.' Happy New Year. It's an honor to receive such an award and give remarks in front of the wonderful senior actors I had only seen on screen before debuting. I will show you my best effort in whatever projects I meet in the future. Thank you to the fans, I love you, and let's be together forever. Thank you."
Lee Sin Young said, "This is my first MBC project and my first awards ceremony, and on the way home I wondered what thoughts and time I would be gifted, and I ended up receiving the newcomer award. I am grateful."
She added, "I challenged a historical drama once more this time, and at first fear and anxiety were very strong. I wondered whether I could do well in this work and act confidently, but through many conversations with the director and fellow actors, despite my shortcomings, we were able to blend and present it well, so I thank the team. I will give the honor of this award to the director. Thank you."
Female newcomer nominees included 'To the Moon' Jo Aram, 'Motel California' Choi Hee-jin, 'Moon River' Hong Su-ju, and 'To the Moon' Hong Seung-hee, with Jo Aram and Hong Su-ju again sharing the honor of joint winners. Jo Aram said, "I am grateful just to be invited to such a wonderful event, and I thank you for this major award."
She said, "While playing the role, I asked myself more doubts and questions than I had confidence. Whenever that happened, Miran unni and Sun-bin unni helped me not to be isolated. I want to be the first to say thank you to them. I want to thank the director, the writer, and the staff who let me film with much love on set. I also deeply thank the agency CEO and company colleagues. Thank you to the staff and teachers who beautifully composed the character. Thank you to the viewers and fans who loved the drama. Lastly, to my parents who gave birth to me and raised me so I could have such a valuable and precious experience, mom and dad, I sincerely thank you and want to say I love you. I love my brother too. I hope they stay by my side in good health for a long time so I can show a more proud daughter. I will work hard."
Hong Su-ju laughed, "I honestly didn't expect to win an award, so I don't trust myself to be able to name all the people I'm grateful to," and added, "First, I thank the director and writer of the drama team. I thank my agency family and CEO. And I love my parents and younger sibling very much."
