'Dok-sagwa 2' featured, for the first time in the show's history, an engaged couple who underwent the "deadly apple test," but the season 2 finale concluded beautifully with a perfect happy ending.
In the finale of the variety show Real Love Laboratory Dok-sagwa season 2 (hereinafter 'Dok-sagwa 2'), co-produced by SBS Plus and Kstar, which aired on the 27th, MC Jun Hyun-moo, Yang Se-chan, Lee Eunji, Yoon Tae-jin, and Heo Yeong sat in the studio, and a "bride-to-be" preparing for marriage appeared as the client, making viewers hold their breath from the moment she appeared. Meanwhile, an attractive "apple woman" who resembled Go Youn-jung was introduced as the tailored apple woman and launched an "apple act parade" toward the "groom-to-be" protagonist, but the protagonist erected such a strong "iron wall" that the MCs felt sympathy for the apple woman. The five MCs warmly closed season 2 with enthusiastic applause, saying, "A textbook iron wall has appeared!"
Viewer reaction after the broadcast was explosive. Viewers sent enthusiastic feedback such as, "I watched with my heart in my throat, but the refreshing iron-wall parade cleared my mind," "It's the first time I've seen the client worry that the apple woman might get hurt," "I truly envy the last couple. They even passed the 'deadly apple test,' so it seems safe to trust them and get married!", and "It's already the season 2 finale; that's disappointing. Please come back quickly with 'Dok-sagwa 3'!"
The client, who is a "shopping mall CEO," said, "After finishing wedding photos, I'm distributing wedding invitations. The groom-to-be is nine years younger; we met at a friend's wedding after-party and have been dating for more than three years." She added, "(The groom-to-be) has drunk and then not contacted me, and we fought a few times," and requested, "I want to make sure before marriage." Immediately afterward, a current model who resembled Go Youn-jung was dispatched as the protagonist's customized apple woman. In the meeting with the client, the apple woman, with a clear-eyed charm, said forcefully, "I'll filter him out for sure. Rather than divorce, annulment!" The client emphasized, "I put my life on the line," causing the five MCs to tense up on her behalf.
The production team's planned "setup" had the protagonist deliver clothes to the apple woman at the request of the client, who is a "shopping mall CEO." The apple woman seated the protagonist and tried on several outfits, asking, "Which clothes suit me best?" In particular, she attempted an apple act by asking, "Can you zip my dress up a bit?" which heated up the studio. At that moment, Yoon Tae-jin playfully asked Jun Hyun-moo, "Haven't you ever zipped up your girlfriend's dress?" Jun Hyun-moo replied, "I've zipped up many times," and even said, "You see more of the back when zipping up than when unzipping," causing the female MCs to burst into laughter.
In the heated atmosphere, the protagonist had a wedding-invitation gathering with acquaintances at a bar, where the apple woman appeared as the bar owner according to the "operation." However, the protagonist did not look at the apple woman at all when she brought snacks, and even when the apple woman pretended to know him first, he said, "I didn't really know (who she was)." At that point, an accomplice—a friend of the protagonist pre-arranged by the production team—pushed the situation by saying, "The owner is so pretty," and invited the apple woman to join them. Although the protagonist was flustered, he asked the accomplice, "Do you want to eat together?" and accepted the invitation. During this process, the protagonist noticeably avoided looking at the apple woman, which sparked a heated "debate" among the MCs, and Jun Hyun-moo demonstrated a "girlfriend-customized" emotionless stare, saying, "It's best to look with a dry gaze when seeing another woman," overturning the scene.
From the time they sat together, the protagonist maintained a "perfect iron wall" that did not allow even the slightest opening. When the apple woman asked, "I also want to meet someone like you and get married. Oppa, am I not good enough?", he drew a firm line, saying, "No." When asked, "Have you ever been attracted to another woman while dating your girlfriend?", he answered flatly, "No." Surprised by the stronger-than-expected iron wall, the apple woman performed a piano piece as a final apple act. However, the protagonist embarrassed her by saying, "You might need more practice." In the subsequent drinking game, the protagonist completely blocked the apple woman's physical advances and focused only on drinking.
After the drinking game ended anticlimactically, the apple woman delivered her "final deadly apple" line: "What if your sister (the client) weren't here?" The protagonist threw a blunt remark: "She's very pretty, but I don't really like younger women. Honestly, she seems like a passing dog." Distressed by the apple woman's continued humiliation, the MCs sympathized, saying, "Raise the apple woman's appearance fee. I can't watch; it hurts my heart," and "Let's buy our apple women some premium Korean beef, known as hanwoo," expressing pity. In the end, for the first time in Dok-sagwa 2, the client took action not to catch the protagonist but to rescue the apple woman.
Immediately afterward, in a private "closed-door talk" just between the two, the client confessed, "I was moved by a boyfriend who thinks of only me even when I'm not around." She added, "It will be a great gift for my father. My father worried because I'm older," as she wiped her eyes. The two confirmed their steadfast love with a kiss, and the MCs wished them a happy married life, saying, "A textbook iron-wall man has appeared!"
Dok-sagwa 2 ended season 2 with an exceptionally beautiful ending, raising anticipation for the next season.
