Group NewJeans member Danielle is leaving the team.
ADOR, NewJeans' agency, said on the 29th, "Since the finalization of the court ruling confirming the validity of the exclusive contract, ADOR has held many conversations with Min-ji, Hanni, Danielle and the families of the three members."
The agency said, "Hanni visited Korea with her family and had lengthy, in-depth talks with ADOR. In that process, they reviewed past events and took time to look at the matter objectively. After sincere discussions, Hanni decided to respect the court's ruling and remain with ADOR," the agency explained.
It added, "Min-ji is also in talks with ADOR, and discussions are continuing to broaden mutual understanding."
However, Danielle is leaving the team. ADOR emphasized, "In Danielle's case, we judged that it would be difficult for her to continue as a NewJeans member and ADOR artist, and today we notified her of the termination of the exclusive contract. We also plan to hold legally accountable one member of Danielle's family who bears significant responsibility for causing this dispute and for NewJeans' departure and delayed return, as well as former CEO Min Hee-jin."
It continued, "During the conversations, ADOR learned that members had been exposed to distorted and biased information over a long period, leading to many misunderstandings about the company and ultimately to this dispute. The company and the artists agreed that, even if it takes some time, a process based on accurate facts is necessary to fully resolve misunderstandings to restore the love of fans and the public. We also agreed to have an opportunity later to address the various controversies that arose during the dispute and are discussing the timing and method."
Lastly, "ADOR will do its best to bring this matter to a smooth conclusion and to have NewJeans return to their fans as soon as possible," it said.
Meanwhile, the five NewJeans members held an emergency press conference last year claiming the exclusive contract had broken down, and after about a year of litigation ADOR won the first-instance suit confirming the validity of the exclusive contract. Haerin and Hye-in, after consultations, were the first to formalize their intention to return, while Hanni, Min-ji and Danielle delivered belated return messages individually and continued discussions.
The following is ADOR's full statement.
