'Running Man' Jee Seokjin became the target of a hidden camera prank and, with the unexpected revelation of a "marriage separation" remark, brought both laughter and embarrassment at the same time.
On the 28th episode of SBS variety show 'Running Man', a pre-mission to find a mysterious box was held before the main Race. While the members were busy finding the boxes with their names on them, there was a secret gaze aimed at their backs, and the one responsible was none other than Jee Seokjin.
Jee Seokjin, who had previously lost the name tag tearing match to the guest member Choi Daniel during a visit to Tongyeong, was given a "chance for revenge." Given the hidden rule that he had to secretly tear off everyone's name tags without being caught by the members, Jee Seokjin fired up, saying "I feel alive" and "today is my day," and even declared he would go after the "strongest" Kim Jong Kook, drawing laughter.
But it was actually a surprise hidden camera set up for Jee Seokjin. During the process of facing off with Yu Jae-seok, Jee Seokjin noticed his awkward acting and suspected, "Do you know something? Are you trying to trick me?" and eventually became convinced it was a prank and claimed victory (?). The ringleaders were Yu Jae-seok and Kim Jong Kook, who couldn't hold back their laughter. The two laughed, saying, "Because of Jee Seokjin's reaction," and Jee Seokjin, even suffering a minor injury, showed "injured fighting spirit" and turned the set into a sea of laughter.
Afterward, the Race continued with "product grabbing year-end settlement." The members took part in the "Running year-end hearing" to protect their product badges as much as possible, and Jee Seokjin once again found himself on the hot seat.
When guessing phrases Jee Seokjin often says, Yu Jae-seok tried to enforce discipline, saying, "He is older than me but actually isn't he a junior? He behaves rudely toward me," and Jee Seokjin shot back, "It's been a long time since I thought of you as younger than me. I no longer think of you as a junior," provoking laughter. When Kim Jong Kook added, "You must observe decorum at work," Jee Seokjin lamented, "Everything has collapsed now," and when Yang Se-chan provoked, "Then can I also bring you down?" Jee Seokjin snapped back, "You're a kid, you're a junior!" adding to the laughter.
As the atmosphere heated up, Yu Jae-seok abruptly revealed, "Jee Seokjin said he would have a marriage separation when he turns 60." Embarrassed, Jee Seokjin explained, "That was something I said when it was a trend," but the members all criticized him in unison, saying, "Is marriage separation just a trend?" Yu Jae-seok and Kim Jong Kook pressed again, saying, "He even spoke seriously about it when there were no cameras."
Cornered, Jee Seokjin snapped, "It wasn't even a formal interview. Say something that makes sense," and in an effort to manage the mood, he improvised a three-line acrostic poem using his wife Ryu Sujeong's name. The sudden display of affection once again turned the set into a sea of laughter.
From being the target of a hidden camera to explaining the "marriage separation" remark, Jee Seokjin spent the whole day oscillating between laughter and embarrassment. Thanks to his reactions and clever damage control, 'Running Man' once again delivered a cheerful year-end laugh.
