'Extreme 84' Lee Eunji succeeded in completing her first half marathon of her life.
On the 28th broadcast of MBC variety show 'Extreme 84', Kian84, Kwon Hwa Woon, Lee Eunji and Tsuki were shown challenging the Médoc Marathon in France.
That day Kwon Hwa Woon, as a 'run chinja', ran focusing only on the record, but this time he performed the role of pacemaker for the Extreme crew.
Kwon Hwa Woon said, "I have always run marathons for records up to now, but if I can help their completion, wouldn't that be more valuable than a record. I can get my record another time," explaining why he decided to help Lee Eunji and Tsuki.
Lee Eunji said, "It's reassuring because there is a marathon master," and Kian84, watching in the studio, said, "Shouldn't I have done that? What am I doing," adding, "As the crew leader, I was thinking only of myself, that's shameful," feeling embarrassed.
While running for a long time, Lee Eunji faced a crisis when she encountered a bumpy gravel road. That lasted only a moment; with Kwon Hwa Woon's help she moved forward one step at a time and soon passed the 8km mark.
She continued to set new personal bests, but once again ran into fatigue. Kwon Hwa Woon cheered, "When you reach 10km you've done half, so you can do it. Let's go."
Having broken through to 10km, Lee Eunji ran aiming for 11km as Kwon Hwa Woon left to act as pacemaker for Tsuki and Kian84. At that moment, Lee Eunji, who found a cheering band, said, "Director, big trouble. After passing 10km it's the music of Vibe that I like," unable to contain her excitement.
She even danced to raise her tension. She said, "I think I'm the kind of person whose runners' high comes at 10km. Suddenly I felt much better and my body felt lighter," and broke through 11km at a faster pace than ever.
Then Lee Eunji said, "I just want to lie down. I just want to sleep," and stopped at 13.5km to fall into thought. Suppressing the desire to give up, she started running again, repeating walking and running to move forward.
Lee Eunji said, "In any case, I wanted to finish. Technically I was not at all capable of running a half, but the reason I could run was my members. Even if I run, I had the feeling that they would be running somewhere. And the many cheers from citizens who encouraged me along the way. I think I ran for the people who were with me," she said.
With breath rising to her chin and holding on with willpower, when she finally saw the half marathon finish line Lee Eunji increased her speed and ran. She succeeded in completing her first half marathon of her life, and Lee Eunji said, "It was so hard. I miss my mother," enjoying the moment as she took a commemorative photo at the half point.
Meanwhile, Kian84 collapsed, surprising everyone, as he suffered dehydration symptoms and even muscle cramps due to the aftereffects of wine hangover the previous day. He even showed signs of vomiting, raising questions about whether he could actually finish.
