Actor Seo Yea-ji makes her first challenge on the theater stage with 'The Hymn of Death' to keep her promise to meet fans with a work in 2025. The performances are in 2026, and she is currently immersed in rehearsals with a busy schedule.
Through the dramas 'Eve', 'It's Okay to Be Psycho', 'Save Me', and the film 'Memory of Tomorrow', Seo Yea-ji, who showed delicate yet steady acting skills, will challenge the theater stage for the first time since her debut.
The play 'The Hymn of Death' is a work that captures the love of artists who lived through the turbulent 1920s and their yearning for freedom that they ultimately could not give up.
In the theatrical challenge 'The Hymn of Death', Seo Yea-ji appears as the ill-fated soprano Yun Sim-deok, who shook her era. Interest is focusing on how Seo Yea-ji will portray Yun Sim-deok, a character with a complex inner life who, even under the oppression of the times, did not let go of art, love and her own choices.
In particular, because Yun Sim-deok is reconstructed not as a character simply swept up by a tragic fate but as an existence who decides her life and relationships herself, it is expected that the character's individuality and charm will be further upgraded through Seo Yea-ji's unique expressiveness.
Above all, the 2026 season to be performed next year will focus on the process of choosing and the subjectivity of characters, so the characters are expected to be presented three-dimensionally, and Seo Yea-ji's transformation, who has shown acting prowess in drama and film, is expected to lead the work's completeness.
Meanwhile, Seo Yea-ji's first theater debut, 'The Hymn of Death', will be performed at Sejong Center for the Performing Arts M Theater from Jan. 30 to March 2, 2026.
