Actor Jung Jeong-ah shared surprising news about the recent condition of her son, whom she had said was receiving treatment for developmental delay.
Jung Jeong-ah wrote on her social media on the 28th, "Just three years ago one of my wishes was for Haim to sit even for one second," and calmly recounted her son's growth process.
She said, "He was so distracted that wherever we went I only heard 'Stop,' 'Haim,' 'I'm sorry,' and I was so upset from worrying about others' eyes that I often cried alone," and added, "Now he makes good eye contact, smiles a lot, sits and studies every day."
The released video showed Haim holding a certificate and celebrating. Jung Jeong-ah said, "He especially likes math and entered a math contest at Kumon that even 7-year-old boys and girls participate in," and noted, "He finished 160 questions in 30 minutes, got only two wrong, and placed in the top 1.85%."
She added with emotion, "I am grateful not only for what he did well but above all that he didn't give up and finished."
Earlier, Jung Jeong-ah said on MBN that when her son was about 28 to 29 months old he was recommended to take developmental tests, and that some hospitals had diagnosed him with autism and autism plus intellectual disability. She later said that university hospital examinations diagnosed severe developmental delay and borderline disability rather than autism, and that he has undergone intensive therapy such as speech therapy.
Jung Jeong-ah said, "My child is a case that improved from developmental delay," and added, "He was declared fully recovered in April of this year," receiving much encouragement.
Jung Jeong-ah debuted in 1999 and appeared in dramas such as drama Yainshidae, drama Baeksulgongju, drama Inhyeong-ui Jib, and films such as The Art of Seduction and Splendid Holiday. She married in 2017 and gave birth to a son in 2020.
