"I can't tell if this is affection"... Ham So-won·Jin Hua, reason they left the possibility of reconciliation open even in their third year after divorce
Ham So-won, now in her third year after divorce, and her ex-husband Jin Hua have drawn attention by cautiously hinting at the possibility of reconciliation while harboring complex feelings for each other.
On the 20th, the MBN 'Sokpulishow Dongchimi' that aired featured Ham So-won, who has settled in Korea, sharing updates after the divorce. Ham So-won revealed, "I moved at the end of February this year," showed the house where she currently lives, and introduced her daily life living with her daughter Hye-jung.
Ham So-won married Jin Hua, a Chinese man 18 years her junior, in 2018, but they divorced in 2022. She said, "As we kept fighting, our conversations stopped, and when Hye-jung was about 5 or 6, she realized her parents were fighting," and confessed, "I decided to divorce because I didn't want to show my child this any longer."
After the divorce, Ham So-won split her time between overseas and living with her daughter before settling in Korea this year. Jin Hua also came to Korea to see his daughter, and afterward they began a "cohabiting form of shared parenting" in which they lived in the same space for the child. Ham So-won explained, "Because we have to take responsibility as parents until Hye-jung turns 20, the idea came up to practice living together."
He candidly admitted, "I'm researching how we can be together without fighting," saying the relationship is still not easy. Jin Hua also said, "I'm still nervous when I'm next to Ms. So-won," conveying a subtle atmosphere.
Ham So-won took care of Jin Hua's health by managing his exercise, reading and daily habits, and the cast members who saw this expressed surprise, saying, "Isn't she taking care of him too much even though they're divorced?" In response, Ham So-won revealed her confused feelings, saying, "I can't tell if this is affection or love." But psychiatrist Lee Kwang-min analyzed, "That is not affection but stems from anxiety," adding, "It is expressed as worry that the other person might get worse."
Meanwhile, on the 27th broadcast of 'Dongchimi,' another current of change was detected alongside the couple's conflicts. They argued over differences in disciplining and educating their daughter Hye-jung, but for the first time since the divorce the two were shown having a meal alone together and having an honest conversation.
Jin Hua confessed, "It was very hard after the divorce. During a wandering period I went to Bangkok at a friend's suggestion, and then I met Ms. So-won again, we saw each other struggling and held on to each other." He added that although they are not a couple, they are together as parents and currently stay in the same house roughly every two weeks.
In particular, Jin Hua said, "Sometimes I think, 'What if we got back together?' " and frankly said, "I have to like myself first for Ms. So-won to like me, and then Hye-jung will like it. For the peace of the family." Ham So-won also acknowledged his changed behavior, saying, "Jin Hua has changed a lot. You can see he's making an effort."
In the past, Ham So-won was confused about whether her feelings were "affection or not" in anxiety and confusion, but in recent broadcasts she is once again leaving the possibility open as she looks at the changed Jin Hua. Both are showing gradual moves toward understanding each other with their daughter Hye-jung at the center.
