Actor Hyunbin gave an honest assessment of the character in his breakout work "My Name Is Kim Sam-soon".
On the 27th broadcast of MBC entertainment program Omniscient Interfering View, Hyunbin appeared as a surprise guest and displayed a calm yet unexpected wit.
That day Hyunbin also shared his feelings after winning the couple leading actor award with his wife Son Ye-jin at the Blue Dragon Film Awards held last November. Asked "How did you feel when you saw your wife on stage?" he answered briefly, "I felt very good," and flashed a shy smile.
The conversation naturally turned to Hyunbin's representative work "My Name Is Kim Sam-soon." Recently, Pungja, who said they had watched the work again, noted, "By today's standards, the character 'Hyun Jin-heon' played by Hyunbin is quite a bad man," referring to how perspectives have changed with the times.
Hyunbin nodded and candidly acknowledged, "That's right. Even then that character was criticized a lot," adding, "By today's standards he was a figure clearly out of step with the times." It was striking to see him calmly accept that while not denying the past popularity, the way people view the work has changed.
Meanwhile, Hyunbin married fellow 1982-born actor Son Ye-jin in 2022 and they had a son that November.<
