On the 26th, Channel A's 'These days parenting - My golden child' (hereinafter 'My golden child') aired a segment titled 'Have actor Sang-in Lee and his three sons changed?' and shared an update after seven months.
Earlier, Sang-in Lee's eldest son received an on-site emergency assessment and was diagnosed with 'autism spectrum' by Dr. Eun-young Oh.
At the time, seeing the two shocked parents, Dr. Eun-young Oh said, "Whatever the form, you must teach social interaction so they learn it, memorize it and can apply it to daily life," and added, "I think you should go to receive therapeutic education to catch up on the lacking areas. I hope you don't miss the critical periods for development."
Afterwards, Sang-in showed efforts for his eldest son. He transformed into a daily teacher to provide patience training and even challenged a 5km marathon with his eldest son.
Especially, the eldest son, exhausted, sat down and cried, but when his father asked, "Are you going to give up like this?" he said, "No," clenched his teeth and ran, moving the studio to tears.
The eldest, who did not give up and ran, ultimately succeeded in finishing with his father, and Dr. Eun-young Oh, who had been crying throughout the video, said, "I know well how many difficulties children on the autism spectrum face and how much parents worry about these children and shed many tears," adding, "It seemed to show not only this child but everyone's life."
Seven months after appearing on 'My golden child,' Sang-in Lee revealed changes about his eldest: "My eldest suddenly talks a lot more and his interactive responses have improved, so a few days ago he even spoke like an adult. He started saying things he wasn't taught because he felt them himself. There were times I was very surprised."
In fact, the eldest cheerfully went to school with his father's escort, arranged his clothes and sat down to focus on class. Even during long classes he calmly stayed in his seat, and he even raised his hand energetically to answer the teacher's questions.
Sang-in Lee's wife said, "I really confronted this issue, sought professional knowledge, and as I did that my mind eased and it helped the children," and Sang-in Lee also said, "It seemed difficult for my wife to handle alone, so I drastically reduced my work in Seoul and started working near home. I'm trying to spend most evenings together."
The two accepted the eldest's previously ignored 'autism spectrum.' Sang-in Lee's wife expressed gratitude, saying, "I wanted to hide it and keep it quiet, but because what happened wasn't wrong, you freed us from guilt. I'm so grateful that I can proudly say my child is like this."
After the broadcast appearance, the bond among the three brothers deepened, and Sang-in Lee's wife added, "I am truly grateful. Saying thank you is far too little; if we hadn't done this program, we would have been living the same as before or in even more difficulty."
