It has already been a year since the eternal Juliet, actress Olivia Hussey, passed away.
Olivia Hussey died on Dec. 27 last year at the age of 73.
At the time, Olivia Hussey's social account posted, "We are deeply saddened to announce the death of Olivia Hussey Aylisley, who peacefully passed away on Dec. 27 surrounded by her loved ones. Olivia was an extraordinary person who touched the lives of everyone who knew her with warmth, wisdom and pure kindness."
It went on to say, "Olivia was born on April 17, 1951, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She lived a life filled with art, spirituality, kindness toward animals, passion, love and devotion."
It added, "We mourn this tremendous loss and celebrate Olivia's lasting impact on our lives and the industry. We appreciate the many thoughts and prayers during this difficult time and mourn the loss of a special soul."
According to U.S. outlet the San Francisco Chronicle, Olivia Hussey's cause of death was cancer. Earlier she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008 and was considered cured after a mastectomy, but she said in a 2018 interview with a media outlet that a new tumor had been found.
Olivia Hussey debuted in the 1964 film The Crush and won worldwide love playing Juliet in the 1968 Romeo and Juliet. Through that role she became a star the following year, winning the Golden Globe newcomer award and the David di Donatello Golden Plate Award. She later appeared in films such as Black Christmas, Death on the Nile and Mother Teresa, and after the 2015 release Obsession she stopped acting in 2016.
She married singer and actor Dean Martin in 1971 and had a son, Alexander Martin, but they divorced in 1978; she then married Japanese singer Akira Fuse in 1980 and had a son, Max Fuse, but they divorced in 1989. In 1991 she remarried her current husband, singer and actor David Aylsley, and they had a daughter, India Aylsley.
