Broadcaster Hong Seok-cheon recalled the time he clashed with his adolescent daughter and opened up about the realistic burdens of parenting.

Hong Seok-cheon opened by saying, "I remember having a big fight when my daughter was an adolescent." He said, "She was a middle school girl who was wearing makeup. At first I thought, 'That can happen,' but at some point I got very angry," conveying his feelings at the time. He continued, "To be honest, it was ridiculous makeup," he said firmly.
He recalled, "She wore unfashionable and unsuitable makeup, and especially put too much blush on her cheeks, which made her face look even stranger," and said, "She kept acting like she was pretty, but from the viewer's perspective it was bound to be frustrating."
Recalling the time, Hong Seok-cheon said, "So I said, 'You can't go out with that makeup. Stay home. Remove it right away,' but my daughter said, 'It's the trend these days and all my friends do it.'" He added, "But friends are not always right, are they? Adolescents don't know that. They absolutely don't listen to adults," which drew deep sympathy.
In response, Sayuri said, "If it's a gay uncle, wouldn't he have a good aesthetic sense?" siding with Hong Seok-cheon, and Hong Seok-cheon laughed and frankly revealed his feelings, saying, "I have a top gay dad, but honestly it was so embarrassing to see her wearing such tacky makeup."
Later, when Kwak Beom asked, 'How should you treat an adolescent daughter?' Sayuri said, "You should do nothing. If you try to do something, it gets harder," and shared her experience. He continued, "The adolescent period is still vivid," and carried on the story.
Sayuri said, "She could have been talking on the phone with a male friend, right? But her father was hiding in the closet trying to eavesdrop on the call," and added, "When there was a sound I opened the door and my father came out. At that moment I really hated it," which made the set burst into laughter.
Meanwhile, Hong Seok-cheon was born in 1971 and turned 54 this year. He was the first celebrity in Korea to come out as gay, is widely recognized as the most famous gay person, and adopted his divorced older sister's two children in 2008. He once explained the reason for the adoption on a broadcast, saying, "My sister was starting a new relationship because of the children, and I didn't want her to feel burdened." <
