Updated news was reported about Lee Sang-in's eldest son, who was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, on "My Goldfish-like Child."
On the 26th, Channel A's "These days' parenting - My Goldfish-like Child" (hereafter "My Goldfish-like Child") aired a segment titled "Have actor Lee Sang-in and his three sons changed?" and revealed the updated situation.
Previously, Dr. Oh Eun-young met and evaluated Lee Sang-in's eldest son, who showed different behavior from his peers. Lee Sang-in and his wife said they were confused and wondered, "Is it really autism spectrum?" Dr. Oh Eun-young stopped the recording and made an urgent decision to conduct an on-site diagnosis.
As a result, Dr. Oh Eun-young told Lee Sang-in's eldest son that "there are difficulties with interactions appropriate to the subject" and diagnosed him with "autism spectrum." Although they had been unconsciously denying it, they now had to accept the situation. In the end, Lee Sang-in's wife shed tears.
Dr. Oh Eun-young advised Lee Sang-in and his wife, "Whatever the form, you should teach social interactions so they learn them, memorize them and can apply them in daily life," and said, "I think they should go receive therapeutic education to catch up on the lacking parts. I hope they don't miss the important periods for development."
Seven months after the broadcast appearance, how has the eldest changed? Lee Sang-in said, "The eldest has really started talking a lot more and, as his reciprocal interaction improved, a few days ago he even spoke like an adult. He started saying things he hadn't been taught, sensing them on his own. There were times I was very surprised."
The eldest, who went to school alone, organized his clothes and sat down. Unlike the distracted 모습을 shown on the last broadcast, he prepared for class steadily on his own and captured attention by calmly staying in his seat and concentrating even during long classes.
Lee Sang-in's wife said, "I really confronted this problem, sought professional knowledge, and as I did, my mind became more at ease and it helped the children," and Lee Sang-in added, "It seemed difficult for my wife to handle alone, so I greatly reduced my work in Seoul and started working near our home. I am trying to spend most evenings together."
The couple has now accepted the eldest's "autism spectrum." Lee Sang-in's wife said, "I wanted to hide it and be secretive, but because it wasn't wrong, it freed me from guilt. I'm so grateful that I can proudly say this is how our child is."
About the three brothers whose affection has deepened, Lee Sang-in's wife said, "I'm really grateful. The word 'thankful' is far too inadequate; if we hadn't done this program, we'd be living the same as before or even having a harder time," and expressed her thanks. Lee Sang-in added, "It brought about a big change. It's all thanks to the production team and Dr. Oh Eun-young."
