On Dec. 25 the 2025 SBS Gayo Daejeon was broadcast live from Inspire Arena in Yeongjongdo, Incheon. That night the MCs IVE Ahn Yujin, DAY6 Young K and NCT Jaemin hosted and took charge of the Christmas night.
This year's Gayo Daejeon revisited the shining moments of K-pop in 2025 and was staged as a platform foreshadowing another leap forward. Many artists' performances were praised for their high level of completion, but there remained blemishes amid the unpredictable variables unique to live broadcasts.
Throughout the show viewers pointed out that the sound balance was uneven, saying "the live audio is hard to hear" and "the sound is muddled." It was regrettable that the carefully prepared singers' live performances were not fully delivered.
The special collaboration stages prepared for Christmas added a different kind of fun. Rudolphs (Cortez)'s "Jingle Bell Rock" and Snowmen (BOYNEXTDOOR Woonhak & ILLIT Wonhee)'s IU "Merry Christmas in advance" stage heightened the year‑end atmosphere. However, during the Snowmen stage a scene was captured in which ILLIT Wonhee's mouth movements did not seem to match the song, prompting viewers to suspect a broadcast glitch with comments such as "the sync seems off" and "was AR layered?"
In addition, during the finale performance by NCT DREAM the camera image suddenly tilted and a scene that looked overturned went straight on air, startling viewers. While such unexpected situations are to be expected as part of the thrill of live broadcasting, the disappointment was greater because it happened during the closing stage. In particular, viewers reacted that "the artists suffered the most" because some parts of the stage that NCT DREAM had carefully prepared were not properly conveyed due to production staff errors.
Viewers expressed understanding with comments such as "it's a live broadcast so there can be variables" and "isn't that part of the charm of live broadcasting?" while also criticizing that "they still should have prepared more thoroughly" and "it's a shame we couldn't properly see the artists' hard‑prepared stages."
The 2025 SBS Gayo Daejeon adorned the Christmas night with rich stages and dazzling performances. However, voices calling for inspection and improvement of technical completeness arose from this broadcast, and viewers' hopes continued that "such an accident will not recur."
