Actor Kim Mu-jun gave an honest reaction to comparisons that he resembles Jin of the group BTS.
On the afternoon of the 23rd, actor Kim Mu-jun met OSEN at a cafe in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and conducted an interview about the finale of the SBS Wednesday-Thursday drama Dynamite Kiss.
Kim Mu-jun played Kim Seon-woo, the close friend of Da-rim (Ahn Eun-jin) and a single-dad photographer in the drama. Raising his 6-year-old son alone and running a baby studio, Kim Seon-woo is a kind and sensitive character who ends up playing the role of Da-rim's fake husband.
The role of Kim Seon-woo that Kim Mu-jun played is a supporting male lead, and viewers who follow the main couple's story naturally root for that couple. The reactions that follow could understandably leave Kim Mu-jun feeling somewhat hurt.
In response, Kim Mu-jun said, "I was actually hurt. I look up all the reactions. I check Instagram and X (formerly Twitter), search everything, and read comments on Naver and YouTube, and I look at comments posted on SBS's Instagram. I also search for and read all the articles. I think, 'Oh, they wrote it like this.' But reactions like 'Seon-woo, close the shop,' 'get out,' or 'just slip and fall' were a bit painful to my heart," he said.
He said, "Seon-woo is not a villain who interferes with Da-rim and Ji-hyuk's love. Seon-woo also loves sincerely, and it was just a timing overlap for drama purposes," adding, "I know it means people were that immersed, and as Seon-woo it's all right to say 'close the shop' or 'get out,' but when people said 'just slip and fall' in the rain, it hurt my heart. I even took screenshots and posted them in our group chat while laughing and joking."
Asked about the compliments that remained in his memory, he said, "The reaction that 'Seon-woo is pitiable' resonated the most. Even I felt pity. In the end, I send the woman I love to the man she loves. I say, 'Please take care of her.'" He added, "That scene is the most memorable. So when I said during a live broadcast that 'episode 9 is the memorable episode,' I changed it to episode 11. That scene appears in episode 9. It was so sad. Asking someone to take care of the woman you love is heartbreaking."
When Kim Mu-jun, who checks all reactions, was asked whether he heard the 'lookalike of BTS Jin' talk, he said, "Of course I saw those comments and reactions. I saw them, and I'm thankful people view me favorably, and whether I actually resemble him, I have never seen him in person, but he is one of the people I would like to meet."
Kim Mu-jun added, "It's a great compliment to me. When asked which celebrities I have long thought were handsome, he was always one of the people I mentioned, so I take it as a compliment to hear that." He said he had heard comparisons to Jin in the past, adding shyly, "I think I have heard it before. But because people gave so much love and attention, it became an issue."
