Actor Ok Ja-yeon has emerged as the heroine of I Live Alone after comedian Park Narae departed amid controversy.
Cat specialist veterinarian and YouTuber Yoon Saem recently announced on her personal social media that Ok Ja-yeon adopted a stray cat.
She said, "Ok Ja-yeon rescued and adopted a 'street cat.' The rescued cat had severe wounds on its back and underwent surgery and has also lost its vision. I have deep respect for the beautiful actor who, smiling brightly, decided to rescue, treat and adopt a cat that probably would not have survived this winter," and she added, "Caring for a blind cat is not an easy task, but I sent my support."
A photo released together showed Ok Ja-yeon with the cat that became her new family. Ok Ja-yeon cradled the cat in her arms and smiled warmly, creating a heartwarming scene.
In fact, Ok Ja-yeon is a so-called cat owner who raises companion cats. Moreover, she had already taken in a stray cat as a pet. As a result, she also shared her daily life with her companion cats on the MBC variety show I Live Alone, earning praise.
On the broadcast, Ok Ja-yeon introduced her companion cat Chacha and said, "A neighborhood friend said there was a cute cat and asked me to go see it. I went, fed it and was watching from afar, when someone came and threw a stone. I cried," adding, "It felt like fate," which made the moment more touching.
In addition, through Yoon Saem's post, another stray cat adoption by Ok Ja-yeon was revealed. Ok Ja-yeon's warm actions are drawing support and praise.
Ok Ja-yeon's actions have drawn even more attention as they are helping to calm public anger recently focused on I Live Alone. Recently, I Live Alone has come under criticism as core members, including Park Narae and SHINee's Key, have left one after another.
In particular, Park Narae faces allegations amid successive disputes with former managers, including power harassment toward managers, unpaid severance, failure to pay settlement fees, illegal medical malpractice through 'injection aunt' and 'IV aunt,' failure to register a one-person agency, and even embezzlement suspicions related to paying her boyfriend's salary. SHINee's Key said he was shocked because he met Park Narae's 'injection aunt' at a Gangnam hospital in Seoul and believed she was an actual doctor, which added to the controversy.
Ironically, they were all enjoying great popularity on I Live Alone. There were even allegations that the I Live Alone production team knew about Park Narae's power harassment of her former managers, sparking accusations of broadcast manipulation. As core members' controversies led to activity suspensions and departures, debate continued over the survival of I Live Alone, which faced a void in programming. Attention is focusing on whether Ok Ja-yeon's good deeds can quell the critical public sentiment.
