Hollywood actor Alec Baldwin confessed that his health and life have greatly collapsed after the shooting death on the set of the film "Rust (Rust)".
Alec Baldwin recently grants on the podcast Dopey: On the Dark Comedy of Drug Addiction and candidly revealed the aftereffects he has experienced since the tragic incident that occurred on Oct. 21, 2021. He said, "To speak about how it affected my health, honestly this has taken at least 10 years from my life."
The incident occurred during the filming of Rust when a live round was fired from the gun Alec Baldwin was holding, killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injuring director Joel Souza. Alec Baldwin was legally found not guilty last year on charges of negligent homicide.
Nonetheless, he described the time after the incident as a "time of complete spiritual, mental and physical collapse." Alec Baldwin said, "It felt like every nerve was broken. My career, finances, work, my wife and children, friends, and even my health were all affected."
He said that above all he felt the greatest remorse and pain toward his family. Fathering seven children with his wife Hilaria, he said, "The children saw me sitting quietly in a corner of the room, unable to move," and "for a while I could only get through by taking naps every day."
Alec Baldwin also strongly criticized the New Mexico prosecutor's office during the investigation and trial process. He said, "They just wanted to make a name for themselves," and "I'm grateful the court ultimately restrained that." The case had at one point raised the possibility of up to 18 months in prison.
He also cautiously mentioned that he struggled with extreme thoughts after the incident. Alec Baldwin said, "It was hard to even open my eyes in the morning at the thought of having to live the same day again," and "nevertheless, faith got me through one more day."
Baldwin was indicted in Oct. 2021 on charges of accidentally firing a live round on the Rust set. He pleaded not guilty to two counts of negligent homicide. Baldwin's side argued that they were unaware the prop gun had been loaded with live ammunition rather than blanks.
Quentin Tarantino, the director known for films including Pulp Fiction, said Baldwin was not entirely responsible for Halyna Hutchins' death but bore some responsibility.
Hutchins died at the age of 42. At the time she was shot on the set, she was a mother of one child and a rising cinematographer.
Meanwhile, the Rust shooting remains an incident that sparked extensive debate about safety on film sets and the overall live-ammunition management system. Baldwin's confession prompts a reassessment of how the tragedy left marks on a person and a family's entire life, beyond a mere legal issue.<
