Amid allegations of an affair between singer MC Mong and Cha Ga-won, chairman of One Hundred, both sides quickly issued denials and dismissed the claims.
On the 24th, one media outlet reported that MC Mong and Cha Ga-won had been in an extramarital relationship in the past, and that after the two broke up, MC Mong severed contractual ties with One Hundred.
According to the report, during the affair Cha Ga-won wired amounts totaling as much as 12 billion won to MC Mong, gave gifts worth more than 10 billion won, and it also claimed that as a result MC Mong incurred 12 billion won in debt.
As supporting evidence, the article published what it said were KakaoTalk conversations exchanged between MC Mong and Cha Ga-won. Among them were messages suggesting Cha Ga-won discussed having a child with MC Mong, and shocking claims that MC Mong mentioned azoospermia and that Cha Ga-won prepared in vitro injection treatments for three months.
But as soon as the report appeared, MC Mong quickly denied it via his personal account. He said Cha Jun-young, Cha Ga-won's uncle, came to him and threatened him to hand over shares of Big Planet Made, and in the process even supplied manipulated conversations that fabricated a friendship between him and Cha Ga-won.
He also said he tried to contact the news outlet after seeing the report but could not reach them. He further alleged that Cha Jun-young was targeting Cha Ga-won's management rights and company, and had fabricated an inappropriate relationship with MC Mong and leaked it to the press.
After MC Mong's post appeared, on the 24th One Hundred also issued an official statement denying the affair, saying, Fact-checking showed the article and the KakaoTalk conversations were not true. They said the conversations had been manipulated and sent after MC Mong was threatened by Cha Jun-young, a relative of Cha Ga-won.
One Hundred said, At the time Cha Jun-young threatened MC Mong to force him to sell shares to strip him of management rights in Big Planet Made, and in that process MC Mong's manipulated KakaoTalk messages were delivered, and we suspect Cha Jun-young provided these KakaoTalk messages to the outlet that published the article.
They added, MC Mong contacted the company to apologize after checking the report, and we will take strong legal action against Cha Jun-young and The Fact Co., which first reported the story. We promise to respond with zero tolerance and no leniency to malicious slander and spreading false information targeting our artists and management. We earnestly ask that unfounded speculative reporting and defamation be restrained.
Meanwhile, One Hundred is an entertainment agency founded in 2023 by Cha Ga-won and MC Mong, and it oversees Big Planet Made (BPM), Million Market, INB100 and others. MC Mong stepped down in May from his position as co-founder and chief producer of One Hundred.
