Singer Kim Jang Hoon uploaded a video on social media showing the bride's face from the wedding of Mir, formerly of the group MBLAQ, and became embroiled in controversy; Mir personally stepped forward saying "it was not a private wedding" and tried to tamp down criticism directed at Kim Jang Hoon.
Mir held a wedding on the 21st at a location in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, marrying a non-celebrity one year older. With only family, relatives and acquaintances invited, the ceremony was held quietly, and Kim Jang Hoon was in charge of the second part's celebratory performance.
However, after the wedding Kim Jang Hoon posted on his social media a message saying "Eun-ah's younger sibling, Cheol-yong went to the wedding and suddenly felt a reality check" along with a video from the scene, and the bride's face, an ordinary person, was exposed in the video, sparking controversy. Kim Jang Hoon immediately deleted the video, but it had already spread online.
As the controversy grew, Kim Jang Hoon bowed his head in a lengthy apology. He said "I offer my apology regarding the wedding video of Bang Cheol-yong" and explained, "I had no idea it was private. I saw it in the news and hurriedly took it down, but it had already spread." He added, "Since returning I have been walking on thin ice and being careful, but I committed a pathetic act that still does not match my age. I deserve to be criticized," and repeatedly apologized, saying, "I am very ashamed and sorry."
He also bowed his head, saying, "I have vowed not to be arrogant and to live humbly, but it is even more pathetic that this happened," and, "I am especially sorry for making such a mistake toward Eun-ah and Cheol-yong and those like family."
But afterward, Mir's side expressed a stance that protected Kim Jang Hoon, and the mood changed somewhat. On the 25th, the YouTube channel "Bangga-ne" released a video titled "Private wedding controversy, I spoke directly with hyung Kim Jang Hoon."
In the video, Go Eun-ah said, "Mir is currently on his honeymoon, but he learned of the situation after being contacted," and added, "Mir's wedding was not private. We never said that." She added, "Because the bride is not a public figure, people seemed to be considerate, but too many articles about Kim Jang Hoon came out, so I actually feel sorry."
Mir, who was connected by phone during his honeymoon, candidly said, "Reporters didn't come because we are not popular, so I don't know why it was considered private," and "I don't know why hyung Kim Jang Hoon is being criticized. It's very embarrassing." He also said, "Hyung did the second part of the performance so well. Seeing that makes my heart hurt more." Kim Jang Hoon responded, "I saw on portals that Mir's wedding was number one because of me. I wish only the wedding had been reported, but it's fine," offering a self-deprecating joke that drew laughter.
Despite Kim Jang Hoon's deep apology, Mir personally tried to calm the situation, saying "our wedding was not private," and appeared to try to sort out the unexpectedly spreading controversy.
