Broadcaster Ham So-won clashed with her ex-husband Jin Hua over parenting their daughter.
On the 24th MBN's 'Sokpuri Show Dongchimi' uploaded a preview video on its official channel.
That day Hye-jung told Jin Hua, "If you forget one item you lose the beef; if you forget the school planner you lose two. That's why the side dish becomes gim (dried seaweed)," she revealed.
Jin Hua asked, "What if she forgets everything?" and Hye-jung said, "She can't eat anything," which shocked Jin Hua. Jin Hua pressed Ham So-won, asking, "Is it true that if she doesn't bring the school planner she won't be given food?" Ham So-won explained, "When did I ever do that? She is given food. I give water, rice and a vegetable side dish but just don't give meat."
Jin Hua reacted that he couldn't understand, asking, "Why do you have to do that?" Ham So-won said, "That way she knows what she did wrong and will bring it properly next time. Experts say when children do well you reward them and when they do wrong you punish them so they can judge and fix themselves," she said.
In a memo Ham So-won had written, six items were ranked by importance: "school planner, homework book, returning borrowed books, pencil case, water bottle, socks." If all items were brought, the child could eat all desired foods, but if one item was missing the beef was removed; if two items were missing the variety of side dishes was reduced to gim. If three items were missing the side dish became two eggs; if four items were missing only "water + rice" was allowed, which drew attention.
Ham So-won argued, "Right now Hye-jung cares a lot about food, so if she does something wrong she should learn she can't eat and then do her part." Jin Hua countered, "The child needs nutrition now, so using food like that doesn't seem right. It's better to give what the child wants to eat."
But Ham So-won explained, "Rice and vegetables also have a lot of nutrition. They contain nutrients like protein." Jin Hua said, "Still, you should give meat. The child wants to eat it." As their argument continued, Hye-jung looked on awkwardly, creating a sense of sympathy.
Their argument continued inside the car. While driving, Ham So-won said, "These days children need to learn rules. What if a child lives as they please like you?" Jin Hua retorted, "When have I ever lived as I please? What did I do wrong?"
Ham So-won raised her voice, "I'm doing my best for Hye-jung right now. So don't talk to me like that," and Jin Hua angrily replied, "Because she's young now it's better to let her play enough; I hope you don't give the young child too much stress."
Ham So-won said, "When she's with you it's your way, and when she's with me it's my way of teaching, so why do you interfere with my style? I've decided to do it this way and will teach her this way," and Jin Hua showed no sign of relenting, saying, "I'll respect your opinion, so please respect mine," which heightened curiosity.
Meanwhile, 'Sokpuri Show Dongchimi' will air on the 27th at 11 p.m.
