Singer Kim Jang Hoon revealed MBLAQ's Mir (Bang Cheol-yong)'s non-celebrity wife and was criticized, but the controversy entered a new phase as Mir's side actively explained and defended Kim Jang Hoon.
Kim Jang Hoon attended the wedding of Mir, formerly of the group MBLAQ, held on the 21st at a location in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province. Mir opened the second chapter of his life by marrying a non-celebrity, and to celebrate this, Kim Jang Hoon posted on his social account "Eun-ah's younger brother Cheol-yong went to the wedding and suddenly got a reality check" along with a video, but it caused a 'huge disaster' in which the non-celebrity bride's face was exposed exactly as it was.
As the controversy grew, Kim Jang Hoon deleted the video and bowed his head, saying, "I didn't know it was private at all. I heard from my manager that I was in the news and hurriedly took it down, but it had already spread everywhere, so it couldn't be put back. I feel extremely ashamed that I happily called and said it ended so well with Cheol-yong's family without knowing that." He added, "Since my comeback I have tried to be careful, walking on thin ice so as not to cause controversy, but I still behaved lamentably, not living up to my age. I am very ashamed and sorry. I deserve to be cursed and criticized."
Kim Jang Hoon said, "These days I'm busier and things are much better, and I lived resolving inwardly, 'let's not be arrogant' and 'let's always live humbly,' but with this happening it's extremely pitiful. I am very sorry. Especially Eun-ah and Cheol-yong, Eun-ah's older sister, mother… they are special people who are like family, and I'm more sorry for making this mistake. From today I will become another person and, in the lowest posture, reflect on myself and pull myself together," he added.
The controversy continued through Christmas on the 25th and seemed likely to drag on. But the situation shifted when Mir's side released the circumstances at the time via a YouTube video and expressed an apologetic feeling toward Kim Jang Hoon.
In a video titled "Private wedding controversy, I spoke directly with brother Kim Jang Hoon" released that day on the YouTube channel "Bangga's Place," Go Eun-ah said, "Mir is on his honeymoon and only now learned of this situation. We were also at a loss. This should be clarified: Mir's wedding was not private. We never said that. I chatted briefly with Mir and he was disappointed that no reporters came," she said.
She went on, "On reflection, maybe they tried to be considerate because the bride is a non-celebrity, but too many articles about Kim Jang Hoon are coming up. It wasn't that the bride's face was deliberately exposed; it happened naturally. Besides, didn't Kim Jang Hoon perform so well during the second part? We are grateful but I'm so sorry that it caused such a commotion. Mir also asked what on earth happened," she said.
Mir, who was connected by phone to Go Eun-ah, said, "While traveling people contacted me. I must be unpopular so reporters didn't come; we didn't get attention, so I don't know why it was called private. We're unpopular, so I don't know why Kim Jang Hoon is being criticized. Our wedding was not private. Seeing the performance he gave so well overlapped and it hurt my heart. We were going to get on the plane and return, but thanks to this we became famous," expressing his distress. Then Kim Jang Hoon, who was connected by phone, said, "Mir didn't know anything, right?" and added, "When I went on the portal site, Mir's wedding was number one because of me. I just wanted the wedding to be known a lot, so that's good," and joked, "We should ride this mood and, before this wedding issue dies, go to the farm and sell apples," bringing laughter.
