"Even If This Love Disappears from the World Tonight" Choo Young-Woo said he quit alcohol and coffee while staying active without a break.
On the morning of the 24th, an interview with Even If This Love Disappears from the World Tonight lead actor Choo Young-Woo was held at a cafe on Samcheong-ro in Jongno-gu, Seoul.
The film Even If This Love Disappears from the World Tonight (hereafter Even If This Love Disappears from the World Tonight) is a youth melodrama about Seo Yoon (Shin Si A), who loses one day of memory every day, and Jae-won (Choo Young-Woo), who fills her memory for her every day, as they protect and remember each other. It is based on the bestseller of the same name by Misaki Ichijo, which has sold a cumulative 1.3 million copies worldwide, and is a remake of the 2022 Japanese film adapted to Korean sensibilities.
Choo Young-Woo, who established himself as a leading young actor through dramas such as The Tale of Lady Ok, The Trauma Code: Heroes on call and Head Over Heels, and Shin Si A, who showed impressive acting in a variety of works such as The Old Woman with the Knife and The Witch Part 2. The Other One, present a fresh and bittersweet youthful chemistry. The film was directed by Kim Hye-young, who won the Silver Bear for Best Director at the 2024 Berlin International Film Festival and the Best New Director award at the 2025 Blue Dragon Film Awards for her debut film IT′S OKAY!, who newly interpreted the original's sentiment in a Korean emotional context.
Choo Young-Woo gave a passionate performance as Jae-won, who, having been spending his time listlessly without a life goal, begins a fake relationship with Seo Yoon, who suffers from anterograde amnesia. It is his first leading role on the screen since his debut.
Choo Young-Woo said it had long been a dream to have his face appear on the screen, and said, "I felt strange, and the parts I like about acting showed up even without explaining them in great detail. I realized that inner acting is conveyed on the big screen, so next time when we do a tight shot I felt I should pay a little more attention."
Asked about winning the title of a leading star, he showed humility, saying, "It seems the character I played was attractive. It doesn't seem that Choo Young-Woo the person is extraordinary, or that I as an actor have an overwhelming appeal."
Asked, "Aren't you physically exhausted?" he confessed, "Since there is physical fatigue, there is weariness, so I try to make up for it in other ways," adding, "I haven't had alcohol for three months. I also completely quit coffee. It's been three months since I drank decaf."
He added, "I couldn't sleep, and if I drank alcohol and even coffee, I thought 'I'm going to die like this,' so I decided 'I just won't be able to sleep.' Usually when I go to a drama set I have to stop by the shop, so I wake up at 4 to 5 a.m. These days I fall asleep well at night," noting that his condition has greatly improved.
Meanwhile, Even If This Love Disappears from the World Tonight opens on Dec. 24, Christmas Eve.
