The group ILLIT's new song "NOT CUTE ANYMORE" is coloring short-form content around the world.
According to the "Daily Shorts popular songs" chart released by YouTube in the United States on Dec. 24 (Korea time) (Dec. 22 chart), ILLIT (Yoonah, Minju, Moca, Wonhee, Iroha)'s single album 1 title track "NOT CUTE ANYMORE" took second place. In the holiday season, when carols dominate, it is eyeing the top spot, surpassing global hits such as Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas Is You" and Wham!'s "Last Christmas."
"NOT CUTE ANYMORE" is on the rise not only in the United States but also in Canada (No. 2), Australia (No. 3), the United Kingdom (No. 3), Germany (No. 4), France (No. 7), Mexico (No. 10), Japan (No. 11) and other national/regional charts. On the global "Daily Shorts popular songs" chart, which is based on YouTube user data worldwide, it entered at No. 40 (Dec. 18 chart) and climbed to No. 17 (Dec. 19 chart), No. 13 (Dec. 20 chart), and No. 11 (Dec. 22 chart).
It has long dominated the domestic short-form trend. "NOT CUTE ANYMORE" first reached No. 1 on the Korea YouTube "Daily Shorts popular songs" chart on the 6th and has held the top spot for more than two weeks, excluding only four days. In addition, the "Holiday Party ver." remix released on the 19th also settled in the upper ranks, expanding the original track's popularity. On another short-form platform, TikTok, videos using the original and the "Sped up" version as background music have together far exceeded 300,000.
The so-called "hood job shot challenge" using "NOT CUTE ANYMORE" as background music is spreading among global people in their teens and 20s. Behind-the-scenes content of this challenge, which shares the principle of an optical illusion that makes it look as if someone is hanging from a key ring, is also spreading like a trend, so the song's popularity is expected to continue.
This short-form craze has translated into results on major global music charts. In fact, "NOT CUTE ANYMORE" entered the U.S. Billboard "Global 200" and "Global (excluding U.S.)" for three consecutive weeks (Dec. 27 chart). It reached No. 9 on the "World Digital Song Sales" chart. It has also appeared on Spotify's "Weekly top songs global" chart for three weeks, showing longevity.
Meanwhile, ILLIT will decorate year-end stages as they travel between Korea and Japan. They will perform on the 25th at the "2025 SBS Gayo Daejeon," on the 29th at NTV's "Annual Music Awards," on the 30th at TBS's "The 67th Japan Record Awards: Kagayanda!" On the 31st, they will meet global fans at the "2025 MBC Gayo Daejejeon" and NHK's "The 76th Kohaku Uta Gassen."
