(Following interview ③) Actor Park Si-Hoo of the film "The Band of God" shared his thoughts on the inclusion of singer Lim Young-woong's song in the work.
Park Si-Hoo held an interview for the film "The Band of God" (director Kim Hyung-hyup, distributor CJ CGV, production Studio Target) on the 24th at a location on Seosomun-ro in Jung-gu, Seoul. At the event, he met with domestic reporters and talked about the film and his recent activities.
"The Band of God" starts from the outrageous premise that an officer of the North Korean State Security Department organizes a fake praise troupe to earn foreign currency, and it depicts the process by which 12 people with different goals become "real" from "fake." It is scheduled to open to audiences on the 31st. Among them, Park Si-Hoo gave a passionate performance as State Security lieutenant Park Gyo-soon, the film's protagonist.
Park Si-Hoo, who debuted in the 2005 KBS drama "Kkwaekgeol Chunhyang" and marked his 20th anniversary this year, boasts a highly loyal fandom even among actors. In this regard, Park Si-Hoo said, "In the past, the set was the channel for communication. When fans came, I tried to welcome them warmly. I realized that they were all precious to me."
Park Si-Hoo said, "When I was a rookie I was unknown for a long time. After about 10 years of obscurity, when I first came up to Seoul and started, I thought I would succeed quickly, but it took 10 years. I thought I would succeed right after debut. But I did a lot of theater and many bit parts. While living like that, as I took supporting and leading roles, when I saw other leading actors have fans come to the set to cheer for them I wondered, 'When will fans like that come to cheer for me?' But as I worked hard on projects, one by one they started coming to the airport and the sites."
He continued, "Seeing that, I felt that all of these people are precious. So when they come I try to communicate a lot. I try to have as much conversation as possible rather than just looking from afar. Thanks to that I think I work harder on my self-care normally, and it seems to be an advantage," explaining his own fan management secrets.
"The Band of God" also features the hit song "Love always runs away" by singer Lim Young-woong, who boasts another powerful fandom, to express Park Gyo-soon's turning point. Interest from Lim Young-woong's fans also surged over this, and Park Si-Hoo laughed, "'Love always runs away' is a song I like too. It appears in the film in a situation involving the pain of a breakup, doesn't it. It really suits Park Gyo-soon."
He added with a laugh, "There is a lot of anticipation about the song. It's a song I listen to often, and I sometimes play it on live broadcasts. Especially because my mother is such a big fan of Lim Young-woong, she listened to that song a lot and now it appears in the film." <
