Singer MC Mong and Chairman Cha Gawon have been embroiled in an affair allegation, and agency One Hundred announced it will take a hard-line response and denied the allegations outright.
On the 24th, one outlet reported that MC Mong and Chairman Cha Gawon had been in an extramarital relationship. According to the report, the two had secretly dated until May, and it also included claims that Chairman Cha Gawon had notified a breakup.
The report included that Chairman Cha Gawon transferred a total of about 12 billion won in cash to MC Mong's accounts on multiple occasions since 2022, and even gave gifts worth about 10 billion won. It also added claims that he had repaid roughly 10 billion won of debt that MC Mong owed.
As the controversy spread, MC Mong immediately rebutted. On social media he said, "I will sue Cha Jun-young," and noted, "Cha Jun-young is Chairman Cha Gawon's uncle by marriage and is an elder." He went on to explain, "Although there can be business disagreements between me and Cha Gawon, we have always worked together with shared intentions," and said that Cha Jun-young had been overly involved in management claiming to have equity in the company.
MC Mong also said, "Cha Jun-young came to my house and verbally abused, cursed and assaulted Representative Park Jang-geun and me, forcing us to hand over equity," and claimed, "When that attempt to force a 1980s-style contract failed, he maliciously used texts sent to protect the company." He said he was angry, noting, "Those texts were passed through personnel who were former managers to The Fact Co., and the messages, further patched together, were turned into an article."
MC Mong drew a firm line on the financial allegations. He rebutted, "Does it make sense to say I received allowance from Cha Gawon?" adding, "Do you know how much my producer costs are and then talk about 12 billion? We could only laugh when we saw those articles." He emphasized, "I will fulfill all debt obligations, and I am neither afraid nor burdened at all."
Finally, MC Mong pleaded, "Do not link me with a person who lives as the child's mother and the chairman who is trying to protect the company," and expressed his grievance, saying, "Why did The Fact Co. never do a fact check even once? They didn't even answer when we called."
One Hundred also dismissed the allegations in an official statement. The agency said, "After fact-checking, the article contents and the KakaoTalk conversations are all false," and stated, "These were fabricated and conveyed during a process in which MC Mong was being threatened by Cha Jun-young, a relative of Chairman Cha Gawon."
They added, "Cha Jun-young coerced MC Mong to sell shares to seize control of Big Planet Made, and manipulated KakaoTalk messages were used in that process," and explained, "We believe Cha Jun-young provided that material to the original reporting outlet."
One Hundred said, "After seeing the report, MC Mong expressed regret to the company," and added, "We plan to take strong legal action against Cha Jun-young and the original reporting outlet, The Fact Co."
Finally, the agency emphasized, "We will respond with a zero-tolerance policy and no leniency toward malicious slander and the spreading of false information about our artist and management," and urged, "Please refrain from baseless speculative reporting and defamation."
The affair allegation surrounding MC Mong and Cha Gawon has entered a phase of truth disputes as the parties have denied the claims, alleged fabrication and announced plans for legal action.
