'Even If This Love Disappears from the World Tonight' Choo Young-Woo rose to stardom and had the best year, but he said he usually stays at home.
On the morning of the 24th at a café on Samcheong-ro in Jongno-gu, Seoul, an interview was held with Choo Young-Woo, the lead actor of the film Even If This Love Disappears from the World Tonight.
The film Even If This Love Disappears from the World Tonight (hereafter Even If This Love Disappears from the World Tonight) is a youth melodrama about Seo-yun (Shin Si A), who loses a day's memory every day, and Jae-won (Choo Young-Woo), who fills her memories for her every day, as they protect and remember each other. It is based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Misaki Ichijo, which has sold more than 1.3 million copies worldwide, and it is a remake of the 2022 Japanese film adapted to suit Korean sensibilities.
Choo Young-Woo, who established himself as a popular young actor through dramas such as The Tale of Lady Ok, The Trauma Code: Heroes on call and Head Over Heels, and Shin Si A, who showed impressive performances in a variety of works such as The Witch Part 2. The Other One and The Old Woman with the Knife, show a fresh and wistful youthful chemistry. The film was directed by Kim Hye-young, who won the Silver Bear for an outstanding artistic contribution at the 2024 Berlin International Film Festival and the best new director award at the 2025 Blue Dragon Film Awards for her debut film IT′S OKAY!, and she reinterpreted the original's sentiment for a Korean audience.
Choo Young-Woo gave a passionate performance as Jae-won, who, having spent aimless time without a life goal, begins a fake relationship with Seo-yun, who suffers from anterograde amnesia. It is his first leading role on screen since his debut.
Choo Young-Woo, who is busy working across dramas and film, said he felt his popularity after being named for the first time among the 10 entertainers of the year by Korea Gallup in its list of 2025's most outstanding talents. He said, I was surprised to be picked by Gallup. The lineup of people there is so amazing that it felt like only my name had been photoshopped in, and he added, And what made me feel most popular was that, thankfully this year, trophies filled one side of my display case. That felt like a dream. Longtime workers sometimes bring awards to their companies, but I displayed mine nicely. Seeing them makes me think I must always work hard, and it makes me feel good, he said with a laugh.
Asked, Did you do anything to feel your popularity, like lowering your mask, he said, I lowered my mask. (laughter) It happened in Tokyo when I was abroad. I lowered my mask and someone recognized me. I wondered if they were Japanese, but they were Korean. It's oddly more satisfying when they recognize you by the character name rather than your real name Choo Young-Woo, he said.
He said that these days, aside from shooting schedules, he stays at home, and that this was partly influenced by a past social media follow controversy. Choo Young-Woo said, Now that I receive so much attention and love, if I make a mistake people will be more disappointed. My fans and the people who help me would suffer more, and he added, Aside from that, staying at home feels more comfortable.
Meanwhile, Even If This Love Disappears from the World Tonight opens on Dec. 24, Christmas Eve.
