Actor Kim Hye-eun successfully completed the first performance of the play "That Time Today 2: Flower Shoes."
On April 18 at NOL Seogyeong Square Scone Theater 2 in Jongno-gu, Seoul, Kim Hye-eun drew enthusiastic responses from the audience with a tour-de-force performance in four roles in "That Time Today 2: Flower Shoes."
The play "That Time Today 2: Flower Shoes," in which Kim Hye-eun appears, is a two-woman play structured as an omnibus of four episodes set in a mountain village house in Jinju in the 1590s, a traditional house in Gongju in the 1950s, a variety shop in Seoul in the 1970s, and a hospital in the 2020s.
In the play, Kim Hye-eun plays Woman 1 and portrays different characters across four eras, demonstrating a diverse range of character work. Dialect acting rich with regional characteristics and rapid exchanges with fellow actors heightened the production's immersion.
Moreover, Kim Hye-eun naturally performed sign language and moved the audience with deep expressions in her eyes. Her commanding emotional expression on stage drew gasps and sniffles from various seats in the house.
Kim Hye-eun led the performance by maintaining the emotional line until the end, and after the show the audience reacted enthusiastically, saying, "Actor Kim Hye-eun's presence on stage is tremendous," "The vivid dialect brought the play to life," "Kim Hye-eun's craft is incredible," and "It was amazing how she transformed into completely different characters each time the role changed."
This year Kim Hye-eun was active on screen through TV dramas such as Iron Family and Typhoon Family as well as the film Family Secrets. Through this play she has expanded her activities to the stage and is communicating more closely with the public. Expectations are growing for her continued busy schedule.
