That day Cha Hyun-seung recalled, "On Dec. 22, 2025, the battle with illness that seemed like it would never end finally came to an end. In fact, from when the first symptoms appeared until just before receiving today's diagnosis, there was always fear in my heart. 'What if I don't get better?', 'What about cerebral hemorrhage? cerebral infarction? Is my heart malformed...?' It all felt like everything was only going in a bad direction," he said.
He said, "Then suddenly this thought came to me. 'No matter what I do, I probably can't completely stop this flow that is already heading downward; if so, even if I can't pull it upward, let's at least try to slow the pace.' I felt that if my spirit weakened, that flow would gain speed."
He went on, "The pain I experienced during chemotherapy at first was just hard and I hated it. One day I was resting unusually comfortably without chills or pain, and while a nurse was doing a routine check she said, 'Your temperature is nearly 40 degrees right now,' and hurriedly gave me an antipyretic. At that moment I realized, 'Ah... pain isn't only something bad. Even this pain is part of the process that keeps me alive,'" he said.
He added, "From then I started to laugh, and as I laughed my fear and hardships gradually faded. I wasn't even expecting when it would end, but it feels like receiving a Christmas present. From now on I plan to take better care of myself."
He also sent a message of support to fellow patients, saying, "I believe that all patients still fighting this moment will definitely recover. You must be so exhausted and worn out, but I sincerely pray that you don't let go of laughter and hope. I am truly grateful to everyone who showed interest and support."
