Broadcaster Jun Hyun-moo denied the allegations by releasing medical records related to IV treatment in a car.
On the 23rd, Jun Hyun-moo's agency SM C&C said, "This matter concerns medical treatment from about nine years ago, and the party needed to visit the hospital in person to obtain the records. We ask for your understanding for providing an additional official statement following the first official position due to this procedure."
Along with this, they released a copy of the 2016 medical record, a copy of the hospital's revenue statistics, and records containing methods for disposing of medical materials. SM C&C said, "It is proven that formal medical examinations were received at the hospital on Jan. 14, Jan. 20 and Jan. 26, 2016," and emphasized, "The medical record accurately lists all basic treatment-related items, including the date and time of treatment, patient name, diagnosis, symptom details and hospital name."
Regarding the copy of the hospital's revenue statistics, they explained, "It can be confirmed from the official revenue amount of the medical institution and the details of medical fee receipts for the above treatment dates that the treatment was processed as expenses for formal medical care," and regarding the disposal method for medical materials, they said, "After the fluid treatment on Jan. 20, 2016, following prior guidance from the medical staff, the medical waste that had been stored was returned when revisiting the hospital on Jan. 26."
SM C&C said, "The treatment was centered on antibiotics, anti-inflammatory drugs and gastrointestinal medication for diagnoses such as pharyngitis, laryngitis and gastroesophageal reflux disease, and the IV fluids were part of medical care to assist the treatment. These materials show that Jun Hyun-moo's medical care at the time was an extension of lawful medical treatment performed at a medical institution under the judgment of medical staff," and added, "The current allegations are not true, and if fact-checking procedures by related agencies proceed in the future, we will sincerely submit related materials and actively cooperate."
Earlier, the Gangnam police station in Seoul received a complaint asking them to verify the medical institution and facts of the medical acts that administered an IV in Jun Hyun-moo's car and launched an investigation. The complaint asked that those unknown individuals who administered intravenous fluids (an IV) to Jun Hyun-moo and those involved be investigated.
Jun Hyun-moo became embroiled in controversy over a photo of him receiving fluids in a car that aired on the MBC program I Live Alone in January 2016. Jun Hyun-moo's side explained, "At the time his throat condition was not good, so he received treatment under the care and prescription of the attending physician at the hospital. Because there was not enough time before the shooting schedule, part of the unavoidable process of completing the treatment while moving under the doctor's judgment was exposed on the broadcast," adding, "There was no personal summoning of medical personnel or receipt of illegal procedures."
