Chef Anh Sung-jae posed as the digital cover model for Arena Homme Plus. In this pictorial, he revealed his charm with a relaxed and comfortable yet strong and neat appearance, as if met on the streets of Brooklyn, New York.
In the following interview, he talked about his thoughts on the restaurant "Mosoo," which is approaching its one-year anniversary. "Honestly, I always worry about identity. If I stop worrying about that, I think I become similar to others. Our competitiveness lies in being different from others. That can mean getting ahead, or it can mean bringing the spirit of the times and attempting something I imagine. I hope customers discover new sensations in the completed dishes and feel the time and experience spent at Mosoo itself as unique."
When asked during the interview about his expectations for the upcoming release of "Culinary Class Wars" season 2, he also spoke about his thoughts on it. "I'm purposely trying not to have high expectations. (laughs) Season 1 received an enormous amount of love beyond what I imagined. Since it was a program that people enjoyed in unexpected ways and watched with interest, I'll watch season 2 with that same mindset," he said, also expressing gratitude to the production team.
He added, "The only request I made before season 1 started was that the chefs should not be made a laughingstock and that they should look cool. And I said I would participate if it was a program that could get more people interested in the food industry. The planning and editing were really well done. Chefs should be grateful."
Finally, Anh Sung-jae also revealed what he hopes for in the new year as a chef and as an individual. "It would be a lie to say I don't want to receive a Michelin star. I would be grateful if we received one, but even if we don't, it wouldn't be a huge blow. I want to lead a restaurant that's only a year old to be as good as possible. I want it to be a place where all team members can have fulfilling days. Only then can we serve good food and satisfy customers. Personally, I'm preparing to take a professional boxing test. I'm not going to be a pro fighter, but since I started, wouldn't it be good to try the challenge? (laughs) Even this morning I thought, 'Was boxing always this hard?'"
