Actor Choi Sooyoung properly opened the start of "Idol I."
Choi Sooyoung activated her presence in Jini TV original drama "Idol I." With a perfect acting transformation and effervescent performance, she clearly defined the show's tone and instantly raised viewers' immersion. Switching between a cool-headed star lawyer and an all-in fan devotee, Choi Sooyoung's performance completing episode 1 stood out above all.
"Idol I," released on the 22nd, is a mystery courtroom romance in which fan-obsessed star lawyer Maeng Se-na takes on the case of her favorite idol Doraik (Kim Jaeyeong) who is framed as a murder suspect. Choi Sooyoung plays Maeng Se-na, a star lawyer called the devil's lawyer in "Idol I." She is a no-nonsense personality who takes on and wins criminal cases others avoid, but she is a twist character who instantly becomes a devotee in front of her favorite Doraik of the band "Gold Boys." Choi Sooyoung delightfully portrays this dramatic contrast, making viewers look forward to her version of Maeng Se-na even more.
In episode 1, Sena and Raik's chance encounter continued, heightening interest. Sena, who failed to get tickets to Raik's solo concert, approached a premium fan reseller, confronted him at the venue on the concert day to admonish him for illegal ticketing, and as he fled in fear she chased him and ran into Raik hurrying to the venue. Sena's joy at becoming a lucky fan was short-lived when a member, Woo Seong (An Woo Yeon), was suddenly found murdered at Raik's house and Raik emerged as the prime suspect, turning the situation around. Ultimately, the two met again as lawyer and murder suspect, maximizing immersion.
Choi Sooyoung completed a compelling character in just one episode within the unique setup of proving a favorite's innocence romance. She depicted the robotlike cool lawyer and the fan who disarms in front of her favorite with different visuals, attitude and speech, balancing the drama's rhythm, and increased curiosity about the development with skilled pacing. Especially, her natural acting that draws fans' sympathy added laughs and raised immersion.
Choi Sooyoung, who has consistently created and presented impressive characters with outstanding expressiveness in numerous works, left a clear impression of her strengths in the first episode of "Idol I," and her presence, which shook the flow of the show from the start, has drawn attention and expectation.
Meanwhile, "Idol I" is released every Monday and Tuesday at 10 p.m. on KT Jini TV and is simulcast on ENA.<
