Blackpink's "JUMP" was chosen as the best pop song of 2025.
Korea Gallup asked 5,148 people aged 13 and older nationwide (excluding Jeju) in July, Sept. and Nov. 2025 to name their favorite popular songs released or sung this year and the singers/groups who sang them (up to three answers), and among those in their 30s and younger, Blackpink's "JUMP" (10.7%), and among those 40 and older, Hwang Garam's "I am a firefly" (6.7%) were each chosen as the best pop song of the year.
Among those in their 30s and younger, the songs in the top 10 besides "JUMP" were last year's No. 1 "APT." (Rosé & Bruno Mars, 10.2%), "I am a firefly" (6.6%), "PO￦ER" (G-Dragon, 4.9%), "like JENNIE" (Jennie, 4.5%), "Don't you know" (Jo Jazz, 3.6%), the Netflix animated film K-pop Demon Hunters OST title "Golden" (Huntrix, 3.3%), "XOXZ" (IVE, 3.2%), "Bye, Summer" (IU, 2.9%), and "Rich Man" (aespa, 2.7%).
Among those 40 and older, the songs in the top 10 besides "I am a firefly" were 2022–2024 No. 1 "Love always runs away" (Lim Young-woong, 5.4%), "Chohon" (Jang Yoon-jung, 4.1%), "APT." (3.9%), "Now trust only me" (Lim Young-woong, 3.7%), "At Andong station" (Jin Seong, 3.3%), "A cup of makgeolli" (Young Tak, 3.0%), "Don't you know" (2.6%), "A moment like forever" (Lim Young-woong, 2.5%), "Sijeolinyeon", and "Jinttobaegi" (both Lee Chan-won, 2.3%).
Among those in their 30s and younger, seven of the top 10 songs were new releases this year, but among those 40 and older only two songs, "Don't you know" and "A moment like forever," were, showing a clear age-based difference in popular music preference and consumption. In the 30s-and-younger top 10, Blackpink and members' solo songs appeared, and in the 40-and-older list Lim Young-woong had three songs, suggesting their influence. "APT," "I am a firefly," and "Don't you know" all ranked within the top 10 for people in their 20s, 30s, 40s and 50s.
Even before 2019's Miss Trot, which could be called the source of the trot craze, trot generally showed the characteristic of gradually becoming known and being loved for a long time. Jang Yoon-jung's 2010 release "Chohon" and Jin Seong's 2012 release "At Andong station" first entered the top five in 2016 and remained in the top 10 in 2025. Although not to the same extent as trot, songs from earlier years have resurfaced or stayed in the upper ranks for several years in other genres as well. This appears to be due to the diversification of music variety shows and the normalization of streaming services. "Don't you know," like "I am a firefly" (original by Davichi, 2013), is also a remake.
Blackpink also proved their hot popularity by ranking No. 2 in the artists of the year.
Meanwhile, Korea Gallup's artist of the year for 2025 was IU with 20.1% support, ranking No. 1 among those 30 and younger (ages 13–39), followed by Blackpink and aespa, and among those 40 and older Lim Young-woong ranked No. 1 with 29.1%, followed by Jang Yoon-jung and Lee Chan-won.
