'Comedian Park Narae is facing growing allegations of illegal medical procedures, and the focus of the controversy has shifted to whether Park Narae was aware that the procedures were illegal. After the person nicknamed 'IV aunt' admitted to being unlicensed, the person nicknamed 'injection aunt' disappeared, and the fallout has grown as additional allegations suggesting Park Narae may have been aware have emerged.
Two different figures appear in this controversy: the 'IV aunt' and the 'injection aunt.' B, who was called the 'IV aunt,' recently admitted in an interview that she is unlicensed, while A, who was called the 'injection aunt,' claimed to be a medical professional but deleted her social media account and disappeared. The Korean Medical Association Organization said A was also confirmed not to hold a domestic medical license and called it a "clear case of unlicensed medical practice."
According to a Channel A report, Park Narae is alleged to have received an IV infusion from the person nicknamed the 'IV aunt' in a hotel room in Gimhae, South Gyeongsang Province, where she was staying for variety show filming in July last year. Park Narae's former manager released messages suggesting a casually dressed person entered the room and administered the IV and that a 250,000 won travel fee was transferred. In a subsequent interview with The Munhwa Ilbo Company, B admitted the account belonged to them but denied remembering performing a procedure on Park Narae, while acknowledging that they did not have a medical license.
Meanwhile, claims suggesting Park Narae may have been aware that the procedures were illegal were raised recently on MBN's "Kim Myung-jun's News Fighter." Former manager A referred to filming for MBC's I Live Alone in Taiwan and said that B, nicknamed the 'injection aunt,' was in the hotel room along with various drugs.
According to A, when production staff visited the room and asked B's identity, B introduced herself as a "doctor" and argued, saying, "I met Park Narae by chance. The MBC president knows and other celebrities all know," sparking a dispute. A said Park Narae later told managers, "Don't tell the company. If this becomes known, not only will I be hurt but you will be too," and warned them to keep quiet. A added that the messages remain and were submitted to the police.
In response, lawyer Jang Yun-mi said on the broadcast, "From the production team's perspective, it is likely they perceived a nonmedical person had accompanied her," and noted, "If she had really been a doctor, she would have officially accompanied the overseas shoot, so the explanation that they 'met by chance' is not persuasive." She added, "Given the circumstances, it is hard to rule out the possibility that Park Narae was aware that the act was illegal."
Former manager A also claimed that even after learning the procedures were illegal, Park Narae did not stop the injections and, despite managers' objections, went to the 'injection aunt's' home to receive medical treatment. However, this is a unilateral claim by the former manager and the facts will be determined through investigation. Park Narae's side denied awareness of illegality and the acts, saying, "It was only that she received nutritional injections in the form of a legal house call from a licensed doctor."
There are currently six complaints and accusations surrounding Park Narae, with former managers' revelations and Park Narae's counterclaims being investigated in parallel. The police said, "Investigations of complainants and accusers are underway, and we will thoroughly verify the facts regarding the allegations of illegal medical practice."
With the appearance of the 'IV aunt' who admitted to being unlicensed, the disappearance of the 'injection aunt,' and additional allegations about whether Park Narae knew the procedures were illegal, the controversy has moved beyond simple suspicion to a phase that will determine criminal responsibility and awareness.
