Actress Kim Dong-wook's wife, known to have been a member of the debut lineup of Girls' Generation, Stella Kim shared candid feelings ahead of childbirth.
Stella Kim posted a long message on her social media on the 21st, saying, "We are expecting a child. I really struggled with whether to post this," she said. She said, "I know this is a joyous and congratulatory event, but at the same time I was completely exhausted from morning sickness and insomnia," and poured out the complex emotions she felt during pregnancy.
In particular, Stella Kim confessed that pregnancy was by no means easy. She said, "After it was confirmed that pregnancy was possible, I had to endure painful injections and intensive treatments," and "to protect this miraculous life I had to bear physical pain as well." It was a process in which, with the help of the hospital, she struggled to finally hold her child.
She also honestly explained why she announced the pregnancy late. Stella Kim said, "I lived in extreme anxiety for fear of losing the baby, and I found it hard to bear that my happy news could hurt someone else." She added, "I cannot forget the emptiness and envious stares I felt watching expectant mothers leaving the fertility clinic after graduating."
She did not hide her fears about childbirth. She wrote, "I am afraid of the physical and psychological changes that will come with becoming a mother. I am especially worried about the psychological changes that will come after childbirth," but added, "still, the biggest change pregnancy brought me is the courage to speak."
Finally, Stella Kim said, "Only a few weeks remain until I meet my daughter. Whether I am ready or not, the child will come," and said, "I hope all parents who are about to give birth or are waiting for a child will be more respected and a little more comfortable."
Meanwhile, Kim Dong-wook and Stella Kim held their wedding in December 2023. Stella Kim, who had initially been reported as a non-celebrity, drew attention after wedding photos were released revealing she had been a member of Girls' Generation's debut lineup.
