"Cashero" Lee Chae-min revealed her thoughts on taking on her first villain role.
On the morning of the 22nd at the Westin Seoul Parnas in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, a production presentation for the Netflix original series "Cashero" was held. Attending were lead actors Lee Jun-ho, Kim Hye-jun, Kim Byung-chul, Kim Hyang-gi, Lee Chae-min, Kang Han-na, and director Lee Chang-min.
"Cashero" is a grounded hero story about office worker Kang Sang-woong (played by Lee Jun-ho), who, struggling with wedding funds and house prices, gains the ability to become stronger by the amount of cash he holds, and who is torn between covering living expenses and his superpower. It is based on the webtoon of the same name on Kakao.
Director Lee Chang-min, who showed stylish and witty direction through dramas such as "The Agency" and "Welcome to Waikiki," directed "Cashero," which features fresh character settings unseen in the traditional hero genre: Sang-woong, who gains super strength proportional to the cash he holds; a lawyer (played by Kim Byung-chul) who can pass through any wall when drunk; and Bang Eun-mi (played by Kim Hyang-gi), who activates a more powerful psychokinesis the more she eats. In addition, Sang-woong's girlfriend Min-suk (played by Kim Hye-jun), who struggles to protect Sang-woong's wallet, Jonathan (played by Lee Chae-min), the youngest son of the criminal association who is constantly eyeing Sang-woong's powers, and Jo Anna (played by Kang Han-na), a leading heir of the criminal association, are expected to add unique fun to the drama.
Lee Chae-min, who rose to stardom with tvN's "Bon Appétit, Your Majesty," transformed into a villain and said, "It was my first time playing a villain, and I focused on the idea of hunting."
He added, "When he has a target, he stops at nothing to get it. I tried to enjoy the feeling of hunting in that situation as much as possible, and I tried to act with that mindset. I wanted to raise the tension in the drama."
Kang Han-na commented on her chemistry with Lee Chae-min, "Our timing was spot on. Especially when Jonathan and I had a battle of nerves and filmed those scenes, looking into Lee Chae-min's eyes was actually scary. Thinking 'this is scary,' I also did my best with the mindset of 'let's do our best' to show the realistic sibling chemistry of actual siblings," expressing satisfaction.
Meanwhile, "Cashero" is an eight-episode series and will be released on Netflix to about 190 countries on the 26th.
